"For as long as I can recall, I've always been fascinated with the history of warfare and the dramatic military narratives that defined the outcomes of major wars of the past. I've always dreamed of a game that would allow players to come up with their own narratives by collaborating with others on a massive scale and doing so in an environment where the stakes felt real. I'm talking about a game where you could band together with other players, plan a strategy that takes weeks to unfold, and use it to change the tide of a large scale war.
Foxhole aims to create this experience in the form of a persistent world, massively multiplayer game. It's an ambitious project that presents numerous challenges for our team to overcome. As a first step, we've spent the last 5 months developing a prototype for one small component of the game: combat mechanics. It's available to download and play here. We have two simple goals for this project: Do everything in our power to fulfill this vision without compromise and stay as far away as we can from the distractions that usually ruins these sorts of concepts. This won't be a "freemium" game and we won't be selling microtransactions".

FYI, there is a link on the mainpage to dl a prototype of the game. It might take a few mins to get into a server but be patient. Also you can upvote the game on Steam greenlight.
Looks very much like Running With Rifles (http://store.steampowered.com/app/270150/). Eerily so.
Would be cool if they can fill out a long-term warfare campaign system for this Foxhole game. Many MMOs have tried, and nearly all fell short of their goal once they figured out how much work it would take to get there.

Dont know if you guys know but it has a techincal alpha thing free to play on steam. I had a go and it seemed pretty cool, not many on the servers right now though. Time difference thogh
