Had a couple of false starts in my quest to master Civ IV on Monarch. I have a good one going now. I am Mansa Musa. I am on a continent with Victoria, Saladin and Ragnar. Everything has been really mellow for the first ~ 220. The only hiccough has been a war between Vickie and Ragnar. Well, I knew if I wanted to get anywhere I was going to have to war it up. So, I gathered the troops and spilled over Saladin's border. I quickly took two of his cities. That's when he ran to Victoria and became her vassal. So now I am at war with the biggest power on my landmass. Thankfully, I had enough of what the Vikings wanted in order to pull them into the war and keep the Brits busy. Of course, this would all be well and good, but, now Isabella has chimed in from across the ocean and declared on me. I've taken Saladin's capitol, but, I don't know if I have enough to take the rest of his mainland cities and still have time to pivot and face the hordes from across the water. We shall see.
Picked up HoI 4 yesterday and played some cooperative online with a buddy.
Refunded it today. Interesting game, good UI, excellent visual appeal, but I just found it to be boring and I don't see it having much replayability. The WW2 scenario is so limited in scope, especially if you're not playing as one of the big five or Germany.
Picked up Warhammer 40k Armageddon Complete at Bundlestars last week, and will get some more of that in. Other than that and my ongoing Twilight Struggle game I haveno other plans (but that can change if the right game goes on sale for the weekend)
Ugh. Don't see much of anything happening this weekend except rain, a long drive (both ways) and crap. Probably go see Suicide Squad on Saturday and call it done.

My experience (53 hours of game play) has been quite different. There is no limit to the scope of how WW2 plays out game to game. Anything and everything possible can and will happen and each game has played differently than any other. It's a sandbox game, like the Making History games, where you can do pretty much whatever you want.
My WitP:AE USA campaign lured me back in after having set it aside to play HoI4 and Stellaris.
Starting the White March for Pillars of Eternity. Followed by the Green March to cut the grass and then a Blue March in the pool afterward. Have a great first weekend of August Grogs.

Visiting friends in the rural backwoods of PA so not much gaming. However I may be exactly 9 turns away from winning my Attila: TW campaign as Aksum (Ethiopia).
After that, I am not sure what is next. Maybe another short Attila campaign for giggles? Maybe some Wasteland: Director's Cut. Maybe some Ryse. Or maybe some Age of Charlemagne as the Lombards.
I'll let you know once I get it started Gus. Right now all I know is you have to start it BEFORE you finish the game. Which I just did, so I got to go back to a previous save and start from there.

So far most of my gaming this weekend has involved:
1.) Relearning my Chaos skilz (slightly, since I prefer not to play them much) in DoW1 (...and remembering that I'm supposed to be writing an article for the front page on DoW1 being my go-to game);
2.) Developing my Sisters of Battle skilz (slightly, since I just have never gotten around to playing them much) in the same;
3.) Generally failing to murder my friends and/or bots as Kim Il-Jung (randomly got assigned him twice over four games) in The Ship: Murder Party last night;
4.) Noticing that the original game doesn't seem to have any Democratic leaders to murder, only rogue/terrorist nation leaders and conservative Prime Ministers and Presidents.
5.) Trying to figure out if that's because the devs are so hardcore Dems that they're incapable of joking about their side like that; or if it's because they think Republicans broadly can take nasty jokes at their expense better than Democrats so they just decided not to borrow SJW trouble.
6.) Trying to decide what the presence of Hillary (along with Donald) as additions to the remastered game implies either way. ::)

Having some family and friends over to the new house today for a BBQ, so probably not much gaming for me today. Tomorrow should be a mix of Elite and CMANO, with maybe some World of Warcraft, Diablo 3 or more likely Stellaris thrown in. Started playing Elite again last weekend. I set off towards Witchhead Nebula on an exploration mission that I had originally planned on being a circumnavigation of the galaxy but recent in game events have changed my mind. Was catching up on the in game news and its obvious that Frontier is planning on having the Federation and Empire go to war in the near future and I really don't want to be on the other side of the galaxy in my Asp when the fun breaks out. For the moment I'm going to explore Witchhead, the Orion nebula (which I think is also out in that area), along with a few other nebula, then head back to Imperial space. I could buy another copy of the game and run two accounts, but I barely have time for one no way I can manage two right now.
Finished updating my CMANO Cauldron - Hunting Submarines scenario to v2 earlier this week but haven't got around to posting it. Was mainly some scripting and mission updates for some new features that have been added since I first released it. Still working on my Air Power Sandbox, 2016 scenario but its been slowed down due to scenario creep and my work schedule. Think I have a plan for cutting it back down to a manageable scenario and work should finally be getting back to semi normal, so hopefully should be able to finish it up in the next few weeks.
While it'll probably be primarily a boardgame weekend again, I'll be doing some PBEM in Pike & Shot Campaigns and JTS Campaign 1776. I may mess with Firefight some more; despite limitations it's a fun WWII game that isn't too fiddly.
A buddy picked up Heroes of Stalingrad during the Matrix sale, so I may try and coerce him into some LnL PBEM with that.
Definitely going to spend some time going through the Battles of the Age of Reason Primer in VASSAL.
If I get bored with the above, I may try a campaign in AGEOD's Thirty Years War.
Mostly though, I just want to get rid of this killer headache, which is seriously interfering with any gaming plans...

Weekdays its boardgames down in the ManApartment. Weekends -- well I got Mordhiem and the witchhunter DLC on sale instead of the Gaviteam Blau game. When my six year-old saw the trailer for Mordhiem, she had some no-poopy but quite postive remarks about it. Now she's watching Bob the Builder -- which seems more constructive.

You guys are convincing me to give Mordheim a try. I did break down and buy the Graviteam Blau DLC. Yet another game that I haven't given the attention it deserves.
I find it tough to boardgame during the week. I'm usually too fried from work to keep rules in my head. I am about to start working on an improved Man Cave for gaming though, so maybe that'll give me a good space for it.

Sorry Doug, I'm pretty sure there is no PBEM for HoS. Only online live play.

You mean that paragraph I didn't quote where he mentions a number of reasons for refunding it which had absolutely nothing (so far as I can tell from the descriptions) to do with the cooperative online experience?
