Man this looks like a lot of fun... but I've added up at least $200 CDN to get all the good bits... including a 5'x3' campaign map! KS addon includes two croupier sticks to push the planes around on the map! Only 3 days left.

Ouch my wallet! :(
Is this the old solitaire/two-player one?
Didn't AH do a later printing of it, or am I thinking of a different Battle of Britain?
It's very enticing. The component artwork on the KS page doesn't look all that amazing, but if it has minis then maybe it won't matter so much.
Have to admit that's pretty cool looking. The croupier sticks are almost enough to tip it over the edge for me.

No this is a different game. It is a remake of an older version though.

Agree, but with minis on that huge map... (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fgrogheads.com%2Fforums%2FSmileys%2F%2FBrantz%2520Smilies%2Fcheesy.gif&hash=94d4533f824f1558cc7a37737c9b7d4b66139d3d)

That's the exact scene that was in my head!
Punch.
In.
The.
Face.
Utterly un-resistable.
Yer welcome.
And just to make it harder for the rest to resist, here is a short interview and some pics of the game at GENCON this past weekend.
http://www.beastsofwar.com/liveblogentry/battle-of-britain-hits-gen-con/
Reading through the comments it seems that you don't really need/want to have all the plane types. Part of the game is the hidden nature of the types of planes in your flight. Telegraphing this with the models would spoil this somewhat. And only 19 stands, each representing multiple flights, are required on map at any one time.
But looking at those pics from Beasts of War, the larger map would look a lot less crowded.
This is so hard to resist, it actually hurts!

This looks EXACTLY like the TSR game from the early 1990s. I owned it but sold it at the Gamer's Flea Market recently.
That's cause it is the TSR game.

It is... but with updated rules, by the original designer, and cooler bits.
I figured it was an update. I was laughing because I could never get anyone to play it with me back in the day! The pieces were pretty basic in the original, but they worked well enough. For me it lacked something that I couldn't put my finger on, and without other players...

Does this mean there is no solo mode (other than playing both sides)?
Don't believe there is a solo mode, other than playing both sides.
So, after all that I'm not backing it. Just too much money. I'll be backing OST Vol II, and I just bought a copy of Star Trek Frontiers.
Hope to pick up DVG B17 Leader at Origins next year or from NWS Online.
Too many games all at once.... not a bad time to be a gamer! :)
Pretty much the same here. I just backed OST II, and I've picked up a couple of the Battles of the Age of Reason games in the last month. On top of the stack of stuff I brought back from Origins that I've barely touched...
Just the other day I read a post on a different forum by someone bemoaning the "death of the hobby" and how wargames were over and done, couldn't be found, how he hoped that one day they'd come back, etc. I keep wondering in people like this live in a different dimension than I do. :uglystupid2:
IIRC, the original RAF by TSR was indeed 2-player only, as you had to plot your moves as the Germans, and plan your air cover as the RAF. I think. It's been a while. I bought the game when I worked at Waldenbooks back in 1991 or so. Even if it had a solo variant, that version of the game pales in comparison to the RAF solitaire game (either version). In my opinion, anyway.

Well... maybe Jim will bring his copy to Origins so we can play. :D

Sorry old boy, no can do. Still in operation use y'know.
My only question is which one of you sick SOBs will corner clip the wings on the planes. :idiot2:

We'll only clip the wings if Cyrano puts stickers all over them and mixes them in with Wings of Glory miniatures in the same box.
I'm only bringing it if Doug and Vance wear the cute RAF skirts and move my pieces around for me.
No kilts, mind. No kilts.
This will have the advantage of being an extra inducement for the 'stache to join us. Memories of the Great War.
Tally-oh, chaps. Scramble - cabbage crates over the briney!
Jolly wizard prang, what?
If Bawb shows up I'll have Vance wear the skirt.

Maybe, for the sake of every ones sanity, I'd best stay well away then.
It won't stop him, Bob. Once he has an idea in his head, there's no putting him off of it. He's Canadian and you know how single-minded they are.
Vance will wear the skirt regardless. You might as well show up to see it. otherwise, we're filming it and sending it to you.

It was actually Vance in a skirt that eventually wore Alex down. Kubrick just cut that part of the movie.
To the tune of a little Ludwig Von...
