Pride of Nations has been updated to Version 1.04!
Community Announcements - SlithFox
Hi all!
There is a new bunch of updates and improvements in this new version, and the list is very huge!
In general, the engine has been updated to the latest game logic and UI functionalities common to all AGE engine game.
You can check the changelog below
Gameplay
• Naval resupply from special sea zones can be reduced by enemy ships.
• Development level reduction done by regional decisions was not working.
• Ability sending command points modifier to subordinate stacks had a bug resulting in double modifiers sometime.
• Improved ammo distribution algorithm significantly.
• Improved retreat logic.
• stacks don't retreat from regions not having an offensive posture stack
• Leaders will only lose seniority on January 1st and July 1st, this should help for promotion potential.
• There is a 25% chance that artillery manages to counter fire enemy artillery instead of firing on a frontline element.
• Besieged group can't escape besiegers with evade roll
• Evasion is pro-ratised to cohesion
• Can now build depots in allied territory
• Diplomacy got several bug fixes and consistency additions:
- A war with a minor can stop spontaneously after one year if warscore is still low (< 10)
- If you are allied with an enemy of another ally DOWing said enemy, you don't DOW it.
- Made sure no CB is given if 2 nations are at war.
- When giving back regions to its original owner, as part of a peace treaty, you won't lose the VP, NM originally gained from them.
- True defensive treaty: Major nation <A> gets a CB against another enemy major nation <B>, if in a defensive treaty with ally major <C> being attacked by <B>
Interface
• Shift key can now be used both for lands and waters regions, allows seeing the links between regions.
• Losses of ships are now properly logged in the message panel
• Experience stats in element panel displayed again
• Music sound volume can now be tweaked (yeah!) - need editing a file though:
- you can alter music volume by adding a value between 20 and 100 in UserInterface.opt inoMusicVolume = 60 // music volume, default is 60
AI
• Generic AI significantly improved on most algorithms, thanks to a chirurgical yet powerful modification (expect a +10-15% improved Athena nastiness!)
• Dislikes much more to be trapped in cities
• AI assaults more frequently besieged structures
• Admirals are more often send to secondary's fleets
• AI faster in sending ships in naval special boxes. (to combine with extra ships attributes)
• AI will be more vigilant in defending its capital.
• AI has been improved on resupplying algorithm
• High ranked leaders will be much more reluctant to command small forces.
• Idle leaders in enemy land will seek to get back to 'headquarter region'.
• Transports will have a quite low buying priority if the AI is bested in naval power and situation is not great.
• AI will get a slightly higher bonus for railroad autorepair (which is based on the development level of the region)
• SplitLargeStacks anti doomstack algorithm
Modding
A log appears in the splash screen while you parse a script. Useful to see where you are in the parsing process. Plus, it looks cool! The periodicity of this log is controlled by sysScriptMemoPeriodicity in system.opt.
Good news! Thanks Asid.
Hmmm. Never gave this one much time. May have to fire it up for another chance
Did things ever improve with ProN's lengthy, lengthy turn resolutions? Or is this patch part of addressing that?
You can't download the patch if you have the Gamersgate version of the game. Lame.

hmm with Alea Jacta Est, I was able to get a Steam Key for my GG version, because they did not patch that one as well.

It improved a bit. But it was still the longest turn processing time of them all by a good margin. Only so much the can do with an engine processing so much turn data on a single processor core.
My biggest concern became game altering/breaking bugs. Last I looked, there was some issue with the economy (re: gold?) and probably a few others. When you must spend
so much time to advance through a PrON campaign, only to end up hitting some drastic game-changing bug, it would be far more trouble than others that didn't take half a lifetime to finish.
In other words.. I hope they're killing the bugs, still. Otherwise, even people who can stomach the long turn times may end up pulling their hair out after spending so long doing so, only to hit a major issue.

WTF?
Can't you get it from the AGEOD forum?
I know I picked up the previous patch last year and I also have the gamersgate version. Must have been from AGEOD.
That's where I got all my previous patches from as well but this one's not on their forums. They just have a link to the Matrix site.
You download the patch from the members section of the Matrix site.
When you install the patch onto a non-Matrix version at some point you'll get a message that the patch can't find an installed copy of the game because its looking for a Matrix version. But you can ignore this and install anyway if your non-Matrix version is installed where the patch expects the Matrix version to be (in other words, click on Next anyway). Just make sure you've got your game installed in the right place first or you'll end up with a lot of little loose files rattling around inside your computer.
My non-Matrix version was installed where the patch expected a Matrix version to be, so I had no problem.
As Philippe wrote, I'm downloading the patch now by getting it through the Matrix Members Only Downloads area and not through the Downloads for Registered Games area.
I too am one of those that bought PoN from Gamersgate.
How do you get it from Members site? It says I have to have a registered copy of ProN and it won't accept my GG code.
edit: Well that's weird. Instead of trying to Register the game I simply clicked on the Members link for ProN and it took me to the download. Except it says 1.04 Sept 7, 2016 and I have a 1.04 from July of 2015 already on my computer?!?

Install the new patch and that will change to 1.04 Official in the game. I had the same patch level as you did.
I have mixed feelings about this game though I've only played it a little. I find it kind of boring. Other than building and buying, there's not a lot to do. If you get excited about finishing a railroad or finding a new source of coffee, then it's great. But it's not a game where you can conquer Europe or invade China. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good game, even great in it's details. It's just not my particular flavor I guess. I hope the patch improves the experience and I would love it if they ever got the Unit Cards to show.

I agree. when I'm in the mood for empire building, I like that type of thing but what I generally find is halfway through the game, I want more warfare and military stuff. I think the game is what the game will always be. It's never going to add anything substantial as it has already maxed out the capacity of the engine.
I would still love AGEOD to make a "wars of German unification" version where I could fight the Austro Prussian war, Franco Prussian war and Danish- Prussian war. The time period is very interesting.
It is nice to see Paradox continuing to support this game.

Paradox. Are you confusing PoN with Victoria?

oops...I meant AGEOD. In my defense however, I believe PoN was initially released by Paradox, back when AGEOD and Paradox had briefly joined hands.
It was indeed a joint operation, and my original copy was from that union via (my original) Gamersgate account.
I'm having problems with the link. I keep dropping back to the members club... Any ideas?
Got mine working. Thanks all.
Boggit, here's the link I used to get the patch.

Philippe, could you please point me to the file I need to edit in order to change the music volume in game?
You have a pm Boggit :)

Oh that sounds like fun! :D But I'm worried about those turn resolutions. It has been a long time since the days of keeping a book by my computer for processing times.
