Title: Blue Friday?
Post by: Toonces on October 07, 2016, 12:15:31 AM
I am so rarely up to start the Friday thread.  Tonight, though, I'm keeping Starfury safe from the salty injections of Matthew, so that I can start the Friday thread.

It makes sense if you think about it.

Anyways, hoping y'all have power and can even game!

For me:  sticking with Scourge of War:Gettysburg totally pimped out with mods, and maybe Crusader Kings 2.  Mount and Blade multiplayer...all the usual stuff for me this weekend.

And I thought you were a hardcore surfer? Good song by the way - I like The Verve  O0

Seriously though - good luck to everyone going through the storm.

Gaming this weekend...one word

Beta testing Afghanistan '11.  Other than that I have no idea.  I think I'm going to pull Pocket Space Empire off the backlog and finally give it some serious attention.  I may also grab Stars Into Shadow.  Also keeping an eye on sales.

Well, if anything, I'm consistent with my affair with World of Tanks - it may not be the sexiest game on the market, but danged if it don't punch my fun buttons.

Other than that, who knows?

Stay safe, U.S. Southeast coast Grogs.

Continuing my Fallout 4 campaign, still enjoying it but have no clue how close or far I am from finishing the main storyline. Hope to get back to HoI4 and WitP:AE as well.

Thanksgiving Weekend up here in the Great White North so Monday is a holiday!  :D

Saturday it's supposed to rain all day, so that will be gaming day:

PBEM's of Plan Orange with SDR and Flashpoint Campaigns with OJs Dad.
Need to get some VASSAL work done.
Pine away for Civ VI to release...  :(
Maybe we'll start the Nappy Newbie fest in the play by forum.
Maybe paint some more MERCS: Recon figures.

Sunday is early morning gaming then drain down and winterize the pool and equipment. Then lots of turkey and stuff and wine... early to bed....

Monday is early morning gaming then finish off clearing the deck of summer furniture and decorations for winter.

Well besides finishing Stranger Things on Netflix and a ton of activities with the kiddies I'm in a bit of a gaming rut.

Maybe continue to try to learn an AgeOD game...or HOI4... Or maybe Pillars.

Try Alea Jacta Est.  Just finished my first campaign of it and I understood.  May not be able to carry it to some of the other AGE Engine games I have, but, I will at least go back to it and maybe try some others.

Just finished my second ever PC build (the first was over 20 years ago!) so I'm not sure what I'll play. I'll probably try bits of everything just to see how it looks maxed out.  :) I already tried the new Doom and was blown away by the quality of the graphics and how smooth it ran. Temps also stayed really low and the fans never ramped up. It runs very quiet!
I built this system from pcpartpicker.com (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/MvzMnQ). The only changes I made was I used Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 16GB RAM and a MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 DirectX 12 VR Ready card instead. I bought everything through Amazon and paid $1200 due to gift cards and a few parts costing less.

I just finished my first one and I lost.. Thoroughly enjoyed it thought though I was kicking ass, but I guess I should've been paying attention to the VP total and done some VP accumulating 'decisions' a lot earlier in the game.

It is getting increasingly more difficult for me to predict what I will end up playing. It seems as if the last few Friday's I ended up focusing on games that were not even on my radar.

So, I would say going into the weekend, I'll probably play Elite, ARMA 3, Endless Space 2, Wargame: Red Dragon and likely some VR games.

Maybe paint some more MERCS: Recon figures.

Those have been sitting on my painting desk since last month.  Only finished a set of five guards, and started on a second set.  Thus far.

Needed to get more parchment paper for my wet pallet.  Now that I've had it for a couple days, I've still not got back to it.

Mine have been sitting around for longer than that... :P Partly because I'm lazy and partly because I suck at painting and don't want to screw them up.
But now my want to play the game is fighting with my OCD in the eternal battle of "Just paint the damn things and play. They'll look fine from 3 feet 'cause yer old" vs "Don't screw up these nicely detailed models with a rush paint job."  :idiot2:
...
Fast painting is slowly winning though....

Oh and check out this guy's blog for nicely painted figure and colour schemes for the Mercs.

More 'Pillars' for me. I just found  a new NPC- The Devil of Curoc. She's an animated, cold, metal construct Rouge inhabited by the soul of a murderess. Reminds me of my Ex.  :coolsmiley:   Oh, and AJE is really a great game too.

Another weekend where I'll be pulling some major OT at the office. Assuming I get to leave I plan to continue my love affair with World of Warcraft and Elite. If I'm lucky I may even get around to redoing my Elite control scheme and setting up Voice Attack. Been meaning to start a Crusader Kings 2 AAR so that is a possibility as well but that may have to wait another week or two for work to slow down a bit.

Ok, so far tonight I've commanded 3 divisions in the 1806 Prussian army, a motorized rifle brigade of Russians in 1985, and the USN in 1932.
Not bad on a bottle of red wine followed by some 10 year port.

With the kids:  ARMA3, Project Cars and DCS.  I'll be looking into the Grand Tactical Series 2.02 rules.  For that series, Crete is coming and after that (you guessed it) Something involving the Battle of the Bulge.

Rayfer if my Ex created an NPC based on me, while it would be a warm and caring personality, his name would probably get this site closed-down for language. The first name would begin with 'CheapSonofaBitch' and go down hill from there. Not saying it wouldn't be accurate mind you.  O:-)

So Wednesday facing work Thursday morning I took a executive decision and bought a trip to Berlin instead of slaving for the man. So no games this weekend.  But so many blisters on my feet. Sometimes I felt like my right shoulder would fall of and my right hip hurt. So I guess i'm getting old. I hope you all have a great weekend and hf.

I just wrapped up a good two-hour Army v. Army sandbox battle in Scourge of War: Gettysburg.  Used the Antietam map and OOB, playing as Little Mac.  Great battle, a nailbiter for a while.  I'm using couriers only and had a pretty good plan.  The Confederates surprised me a bit by coming from the east instead of the north, but I had a good reserve and was able to plug the hole  The main objective changed hands about 5 times, but I finally pushed them off and it looked like I had it wrapped up so I ended the battle early.

Random shot taken from the bad guys' side about halfway through the battle.

Just flew my first mission in a FE-2b for the RFC's 11th Squadron in Rise of Flight's career. Offensive patrol with four other planes. Only contact was a German balloon that was winched down before I could reach it. Otherwise uneventful flight using TrackIR to scan the skies.

Hiya Toonces! :)

As for me, between working, (not too bad just some short hours this week...) and playing the "Fix the car game" (OUCH!!!)

I have been playing Skyrim, mostly watching Kikoskia's Youtube play through of Eye of the Beholder so I have been getting that Dungeon Master old school itch.

Picked up Baldur's Gate Enhanced Ed and BG2 EE for 10.00 last weekend on GOG.com (but that RTS/Pause  is gonna be hard to grok).
