I finally got a copy of the latest hard copy adventure release by WotC for D&D 5e - Storm King's Thunder. I'll admit I've become a huge fan of the 5e system, but did WotC knock it out of the park with this release. It's simply fantastic. It's part a DM resource building on political and mythological lore of the giants, more information on the Savage Frontiers in the north of the Sword Coast, and what seems to be a great adventure.
My Fantasy Grounds 5e group just finished up a homebrew adventure so I am thinking about picking this up and running then through it. Not sure whether I will run it as is (some of them may have a copy already and just aren't speaking up) or tweak it enough that they'll be kept guessing just in case.

That is the biggest problem with official adventures. Some players can still enjoy the adventure, but others will play to win D&D.
It can be worse with online play, imho, since they can have the book right there at their desk during the game and you wouldn't know it.
That is also very true. I guess with some creativity and time you could modify the adventure enough to breakup the adventure, but that can be time consuming and frustrating. I played part of the Curse of Strad adventure at the flgs, but the DM had a copy and one player sitting at the table. It was a real wtf moment. To each their own I guess. I take a long view and plan on playing down the road with the family and hopefully some day either via fg or FTF group
Consider using Mythic GM Emulator to change it up. There are articles out there that even tell you how to solo play a pre-made adventure. Even if the players had the adventure book in hand they would have no way of knowing exactly what to expect.
Here's one article that describes how to do it (http://thelonecrusader.com/how-to-rewrite-an-adventure-using-the-mythic-game-master-emulator).
Interesting. I never heard of this before today.
I have a copy of the Mythic GM Emulator. I have only read through it but never used it.
