My guess is that the darker the skin tone, the less highlight/shadow features there are to create a unique 'topographic map' or whatever it is that the algorithms do.
You can't stop the inevitable. Unless you're willing to mass together and use force to stop it. So the next option is to start wearing ski masks or facial paint every time you are out and about.

I think Stagger's got it. Which means you pasty-white Norwegian types are seriously screwed.
That being said, as the tech improves this will most likely be less of an issue.
