The thing I miss most from my childhood is Dinosaurs. What ever happened to them? I'm so old, I actually knew the Flintstones personally.
Mum tried to make us go outside on weekends (26 and 25 years old now for reference). But then she realized we literally just sat on the porch all day and alternated between sleeping and reading.
Then she chased us off the porch, and realized we did exactly the same thing in the vacant lot next door.
She gave up after that
I often mention the, "no cash over the weekend unless going to the bank Fri/Sat morning" from pre-ATM times as a big one. Good to see the writer had it in there. People often forget.

Before the age of the ATM or the "Do you want cash back?" option at checkout, if you didn't take out money from the bank by Friday—by physically going to the bank—you would have absolutely no way to get your own money out of your own bank account until Monday. (That one still feels weird to me.)
That article just reminded me how great it used to be...The Goonies...classic...
