Scourge of War: Waterloo DLC (x2)   $9.99 apeice
ARMA 3                                               $19.99

$39.97

Ain't nuthin but a G-spot baby!

Now to ignore all the other games on sale for the next month.    The only new ones I'd likely consider would be some of the Total War: Warhammer DLC, if they are in the Xmas/New Year sale.

Ordered yet another TrackIR as my 4th died on me.  No PC games yet but I did pick up a bunch of board games stuff.  I got all the Tides of Iron stuff (minus Stalingrad because I thought I'd added it to my cart but I didnt) from the FFG sale.  I picked up Duel in the Dark plus the Early Nights and Baby Blitz expansions a couple weeks ago, and I got Oh my Goods, a few Sails of Glory minis, a Star Wars LCG 2-player mat, and Descent, 2nd edition at a Black Friday sale today.

New PC means brand new game, with high game specs to test it out.

I'm part of the $0.00 club right now too.

At some point I may break down and get DC:B but I have time.

On the steam side nothing's really jumping out at me.

Rocket League, $11 and some change
Motorsport Manager, $26
Transport Fever, $31

I am looking at either Parkitect, or shooting the wad on Planet Coaster. Neither are on sale..so I may just wait. These three games above are all just excellent, and will take a fair amount of time. Two hours per dollar spent..them's my new rule!

The only game I have purchased so far has been Anno 2070 Complete Edition (http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-A2070CE/anno-2070-complete-edition) for 75% off, or $7.50 U.S.

I tried to buy Dominions 4 while it was on sale for $7 but there was a glitch somewhere and it prevented me from buying the game until the price went back up. >:(

Oriental Empires for $20.09.

That might be it for the season.  Anything else I'm tempted to get is either not on sale (or the "sale" price is still too high for me), or isn't even available for sale yet in any case.

Nothing really special for the price:

Intel i7-6700, 16 GB ram, 256GB SSD, 2TB HD 7200rpm, NVidia GeForce GTX980.

Only weak part is it's power supply which is only 500W... might steal my fairly new 700W supply from my current machine.
GTX980 is OK but will upgrade that in the spring.

43" TV is great and it's HUGE! had to build an extension for my desk to move it back an additional 10". Still using my old machine with it which has a GTX 550Ti so can't try higher resolutions than 1920x1080 yet.

I would definitely bung in the 700W PSU - that 980GTX pushing all those pixels around a 43" monitor...

No offense (and I know it's not for everyone) but you can build a rig with more for about $300 less. Especially if you cannibalize parts off of your current rig.

Just got an i7 6700k for a new build myself.  The 6700k is suppose to be the best bang for the buck processor right now and the 1151 socket mobos  will take the next gen i7s soon to be released next year.  I got new water cooler for it  to see if it can go to 5ghz..or at least 4.8...

No offence taken. I use to build my own all the time.... now I can't be bothered. The sale on this rig was $400 off and I gonna use my old rig as a music server, so can't steal too much from it.
Plus I'm working in $CDN up here so there that....   #:-)

Ahhh yes...the exchange rate is a killer.

I personally like building them...it's cathartic to me. That said if the opportunity ever presented itself for me to purchase a top of the line Falcon NW rig I'd be hard pressed to decline. One thing I'm not really comfortable doing is water cooling.

Now installing the OS and a metric crapton of software - not so much. That's something I'd gladly outsource.

That's a nice system. I don't think the GTX980 is a slouch. I think it would run anything I could throw at it.

so after some research i took the plunge and got me the historic classic deHavilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver

Quick reminder for me: was TEAW more stable than WW1 Gold (or whatever the name of the thing was I picked up on Gamergate) or vice-versa?  They looked to be essentially the same game to an extent, minus the changes that are covered elsewhere no doubt.

Teaw's has had several updates and users have posted that it is now very stable, the casualites-ratio is now more believable and turn-times are greatly reduced. We'll see. I'll post some impressions of mine after I play a little.

I just caved on, "To End all Wars". Reading Prit Buttar's book, "Russia's Last Gasp" did it.  :'( And I had been so strong.

Quick reminder for me: was TEAW more stable than WW1 Gold (or whatever the name of the thing was I picked up on Gamergate) or vice-versa?  They looked to be essentially the same game to an extent, minus the changes that are covered elsewhere no doubt.

They are two quite different games.

$0 on PC games.

$500 on board games.

$350 on paints and brushes.

I never, ever should have got back into boardgaming, let alone miniatures....Oh well, on the bright side, this new hobby really limits my chances of having to spend money trying to win over the ladies.

If you are into grinding you can literally pump hundreds of hours into disgaea. Love the series but started to get samey after a while. Phantom brave is also pretty good.

I'd considered Descent, but we went all in on Imperial Assault.  I really enjoy IA, but the setup and storage is a pain.

The one purchase I'm pretty excited about is the Christmas gift from the wife, which is the Big Box El Grande edition.  A classic area control game.  Sure I'd have preferred a true wargame, but beggars cannot be choosers when guiding the family toward genres I like.

I bought Descent on a whim because it was 30% off at a Black Friday sale.  Tried it out solo with the app acting as overlord and really enjoyed it so I grabbed a bunch of the expansions the next day.  Sadly, they don't expand the content available via the app all that much but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

There are user-created rules for automating the keeper (baddie) player in the stock & expansion campaigns.

I hused one of Redjack's rulesets (iirc) and the deck of cards for it.  Haven't given it the full-length campaign run yet, to see how challenging it can be, but it's similar to many co-op games with an automated opponent.

I didn't get anything in the sale, but just realized tonight that I meant to buy some DLC's for CK2...so I'll be eyeballing the Xmas sale to pimp out my game a bit.

And I'm intrigued by this app for Descent y'all are talking about.  Must consult Google on this.

To add insult to injury, I just realized tonight that the free copies of Dirt 3 and Tropico 4 I got from Humblebundle were time-limited to claim.  Doggonit.  So not only did I not get any new games, I actually lost two.

From Matrix:
Pride of Nations w/ all DLC
Crown of Glory Emperors Edition
Battles in Italy

From Steam:
DLC for Crusader Kings II -  Reapers Due
DEFCON for my son

Tried and failed to get MOO4 DLC from GoG.  :tickedoff:

Strangely, I bought nothing during any sale so far, which is very unlike me...doubt I will stay clean throughout, but showing some restraint for once.  Things I am considering include:

- War in the West
- (2) DLC For Waterloo
- Polaris Sector

WIW is the most likely purchase out of the bunch, even though I know it will be completely over my head:)

I don't know about you but most games by Gary Grigsby are completely over the heads of many of its purchasers or--to put it mildly--have a very high learning curve.

Well maybe I'll get some things in the Christmas sales.

I was very restrained in the recent one - while I was sorely tempted to get CMANO and did a lot of reading and watching, all I ended up getting were two ancient Star Wars games for about EUR 8.

And now playing one of those (KOTOR) and also the free Neverwinter Nights Diamond from GOG. Very enjoyable.

Being in a Nappy mood recently (as well as an ACW), I decided to address those needs with the old Tiller Batteground series (Matrix, $9 ea).  I've had some of his WW2 Squad Battle stuff and it was "ok" but I *love* his Midway game, which is an excellent game if you want some very detailed WW2 PTO strategic level/carrier ops stuff.  I've always known that Tiller put a lot into the research of the OOB's and that the games were detailed but the clunky interface and horrible 1990's graphics put me off.  Well, decided to give it a shot anyways for $9 and man- I have stayed up all night playing a computer game in a LONG time!

Matrix upped the graphics a bit (I noticed Charlie Kibler in the credits, as well as your name Brant for the marketing, way to go!).  I did a little bit of modding to the bases (toned down the bright reds and bright blue and gave the Rebs a "butternut" colored base) and when playing, I think it looks just fine.

My other big gripe going way back about these Tiller games was that the 2D icons were the size of a Tic-Tac on your screen.  Well, posting around about these someone said "they aren't meant to be played in the 2D, use the 3D" and so I stuck with that and wow, this is a really cool series.  The Civil War game very much reminds me of the Regimental Sub-System/Civil War Brigade Series from The Gamers (boardgames for you PC doodz) and that is a super great thing.

I might have to start a thread (or join one if one exists) about "Have you ever re-addressed an old game that you had pushed aside long ago only to discover that it is a true gem?" - something like that.

My only PC-game damage so far:   Gary Grigsby's War in the West: Operation Torch

I'm hoping that some of the smaller scenarios will kick start me into learning more and playing the full game.

$10...  not bad.   However, I've gone way overboard on board games, so it's not like I'm getting through December unscathed.   Finding out how many boardgames could be played solo (without just playing both sides) was NOT good for my wallet this year.    :idiot2:

Like smittyohio, my holiday purchases have been very modest, and similarly "War in the X" oriented -- picked up the two WitE expansions for $15 altogether. Have to say I'm tempted by War in the West at 50% off, but it does bother me that no modders have given this game the kind of overhaul WitE has gotten. I just really hate the vanilla WitE/WitW user interface.

KOTOR =  :bd:

One of the few single-player RPGs I habitually played straight through.  May have lost some sleep in between sessions.  :D  Also on my, "So Nice I Bought It Twice" list, which is a rather short one.

So far, only Strategic Command: WWII - War in Europe. I'm probably going to pick up Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa during this sale, too.
