For comparison, the longest ship-to-ship hit was at 26,000 yards by Scharnhorst or Warspite.  Gunfire Support against land targets is easier, since the target is generally not moving.  And Warspite had no Fire Control radar.  Possibly Scharnhorst did at that time, not certain.
