Title: Friday in your Hands
Post by: JudgeDredd on December 09, 2016, 03:19:58 AM
Sorry if this vid has been posted before - but I LOVE T'Pau (and I was soooooooooo into Carol Decker)

Breaking protocol with the normal Friday theme, I've added this for GJK and as a tribute to John Glen - whom I'm ashamed to say I did not know of.
This is for you GJK and John

Anyway, Friday is upon us. It's close to my favourite holiday of the year and so I've got quite a bit of work to do - but I'm never too busy not to game away.

This weekend will be
Call of Duty:Infinite Warfare
Thief - which is actually turning out rather fun
Band of Brothers:Ghost Panzers board game

I likely won't have time for anything else what with shopping, decorations, house cleaning, garden cleaning

Have a good one everyone  :bd:

So miffed the release of both Space Hulk Deathwing and Star Citizen 2.6 have been pushed to next week. Was really looking forward to the weekend....

I've been playing warhammer total war to hold me over. That will most likely continue. Maybe som Doom mixed in there too.

Maybe some total war Attila.  Possibly some Battle of Moscow (can't get over the early war P-40 thing...though even earlier models over Syria and Lebanon might be more fun).  Probably some Graviteam.

Once I get some damn dll file fixed, gonna fire up Squad and shoot peoples.  Otherwise, going to play Insurgency and/or Red Orchestra 2 / Rising Storm / Heroes of the West and shoot peoples.

Shout out to 29th ID - a member was nice enough to send me an group invite after playing some RO2 with them this past week.  Fun times!

JD...can't play the video, it says 'the uploader isn't available in your country'...??  Trying to play it just turns it into fuzzy static without sound. Regardless, still enjoying Stellaris, Polaris Sector and HoI4.

Hellish week arguing with physicist on the best way to make technical drawings.  :tickedoff:  #:-)  :pullhair:

So after last nights beer fuel rage killing in World of Tanks (Xbox) I'm much better now...  :-"

More play testing of LnLP Solo module for LnLT.

Back to PBEM of Plan Orange with SDR.

More PBEM Flashpoint Campaigns: RS with OJsDad.

Started a new campaign in Stellaris as Humans... see if we can keep the non-human bigotry going.

Won't play for me either, but went to look at a video with a hot redhead and hummed Fuel's "Hemorhage In My Hands," at the same time; same effect.

Think i'll stick to the current classic games:

- Civilization V
- Master of Orion....my main campaign is turning into a bloodbath as the Meklar fleets with many Titans destroy one planet after the other...i am regrouping all my last ships for a last hourra....going to patch up the game and install the new DLC afterwards (my boy is keeping asking for it).
- Field of Glory pbem against Boggit. Not forgetting how badly i lost my first game against him.
- Probably some Armada 2526, Endless Space and Knights of Honor.

Well done on Thief JD - one of the greats!

Coming off of a near miss and almost purchasing Warhammer TW on sale at Steam last night, I am feeling pretty good about myself. In honor of me, I may dabble a bit in my Witcher 3 campaign, start a new Attila TW Lombard campaign in Age of Charlemagne and read up on my newly tricked out install of Knights of Honor.

I was playing AssCreed: Rogue but got bored of it pretty quickly. I think I am done with those games for a bit.

My TMG (Too Many Games syndrome) is flaring up again. I want to play a space 4x but don't know which one to pick. I also see other icons on the desktop that look tempting. Knights of Honor? More Civ 6? 1775 Rebellion? Sigh.

Other than schlepping HL back and forth to his role as Tiny TIm...

(13 shows down, 27 to go.)

* Calculating fatigue for "Six Days in October" and trying to get to the point where someone will die of something other than march fatigue.  At least for the umpire, though, the near-misses and close escapes have been delightful.

* Long-running Tiller Jena PBEM

* Tiller Renaissance MP PBEM with panzerde and Boggit

* Figuring out why my SB:WWI game with Boggit keeps crashing

* Figuring out the KS mod for SoW:WL

* Scenario of the month for CMx2...forget which one...

* CS:ME tournament game

* LnL Solo playtesting...never before having dealt with a group that can update a playtest so quickly, it's positively unsettling.

* Wrapping up this round of Platoon Command playtesting

* Packers/Seahawks, pretty much for the season...

Been learning the in's and out's of To End All Wars-- by letting the game beat the piss outta me, as usual. Managed to lose the East Prussian Campaign twice in a row as Russia before pulling-out a draw on my 3rd attempt. On to the Western Front as Entente and I'm up to my ass in Germans not even 3 turns in. But I'm a slow learner. So, taking a break for a busy weekend. Maybe back to Pillars of Eternity if I can squeeze some time-- cause there's no Germans in this game.  :cowboy:

Will probably be doing some Civil VI, World of Warships. Hope to participate in the Waterloo session with Assid's group tomorrow.  Also playing Waterloo has got me eyeing Crown of Glory which I bought 7 years ago and never truly got into.

Playing some Combat Mission Black Sea for another video AAR.

May mod some more Strategic Command unit counters.

Probably fly a few bomber missions in IL2 Stalingrad. Looking forward to the release of the Ju 52.

Thanks. I do like the way you can graphically show technology improvements (Pz III, IV, etc). Changing the counters makes it easier to see what a unit is and adds a little more immersion than "Tech Level 4".

I'm looking forward to playing this weekend...

JTS Renaissance with Cyrano (as team mate) vs Panzerde (Battle of St Quentin with me and Cyrano playing the Imperials vs Panzerde's French (Cyrano plays the Spanish imperial force) with me playing the English allies)).

SBWWI - Gallipoli scen 6 vs Cyrano if we can figure out the file read error coming from Cyrano. It's odd, all our other games have worked perfectly. We are advised now to zip our saves. Anyone else had a similar problem?

Field of Glory
Boggit (Classical Spartans) vs Anguille (Early Hoplite Greeks)
Boggit (Medieval Irish) vs Sauron (Ordonnance Burgundian)
Boggit (Medieval French) vs Sauron (Ordonnance Burgundian)
and three other games with titusgroan, and mcfcivo. mcfcivo is already crucifying my late medieval Polish army with his Golden horde - it is soooo unfair... :'( ;)

Pike and Shot
English Civil War early Parliament (Boggit) vs early Royalist (Sauron)

Some Combat Mission - finishing off a Red Thunder game, may do a Black Sea mission next.

Maybe some Mount and Blade Viking Conquest.

I also hope to download and start playing SC3 for an upcoming article.

That's one of my favorite servers.

I'm hoping to boot up some Scourge of War, and one of the Total War games thus far.  Probably some CK2 as well...I tend to bounce between M2TW and CK2 back and forth during a gaming night as my mood changes.

Great stuff as usual, IronX.

SC is definitely growing on me.  May yet be the RTR that I've wanted all this time...here's hoping.

All testing useless without MP, however, which is forthcoming.

Looking at playing Tillers Normandy with the new update provided. It's a new game to me so I'm excited.

Might do a little Tigers on the Hunt and definitely will be playing some modded Witcher 3.

It's going to be an R&R weekend. Finally.

Thanks. I've quiet enjoyed the game, but get frustrated with elements like Malta being able to reinforce despite being completely cut off and that the UK can field more armies by 1941 than it ever did by 1945.

No.  Just joined another group around a month ago and still in "trainee," rating so it would be a jerk move to leave at this point.  At least I've got options, eh?  Not bothered by the rank / soldier thing so much - looking at their roster, they seem to to have a good amount of numbers so I guess its working for them.  Will take up their offer to join up in their pub nights some as my group http://www.oldbloodandguts.com/ (http://www.oldbloodandguts.com/) doesn't do RO2 as much.

If you get Fortresscraft: Evolved, you can claim to be playing Minecraft (it's an ascended mod), while complimenting yourself on this game having both a darker mood and some actual systems engineering to mess with.

Or you could get 7 Days to Die and pretend it's a super-gussy Minecraft mod.  >:D

It's 3 o'clock in the morning.  I have had a full day of Warlock in the morning and just finished playing another couple hours more.  In between, DM'd the bi-monthly p&p D&D game.  Spent the time watching goblins run away from an owlbear only to watch them come running back in less than five minutes chased by TWO owlbears!  Much XP was gained by all  O0

That one lasted about four hours.  Totally sounds like a long time....and it is.  But there are six players and not one of them knows how to make up their mind without talking to everyone else in the group for, like, fifteen minutes.  And honestly, we use a (homemade) play mat and figurines and I think it really slows things down.  But the visual representation of what we are doing seems to help them.  Each of my players has never played p&p D&D, so any RPG concept I have to explain gets equated by them with Zelda and its ilk.  They called last night's encounter a "boss fight."  Accurate, but not the way we played when we were kids.  Plus, I'm a n00b DM and my storytelling is weak.  The play mat allows me some license and helps keep things focused.  Everyone went home thinking they had a great time and that's what we play for :)

MD - that does sound like a long session until I realized how long some of my poker nights have gone. 6 hours was often the norm, especially since I was often top 3. When I get eliminated early usually I'll just leave.

Still jealous on the p&p D&D game. Been since middle school since I've had that. LGS are not really a thing here.

I managed some quality time with Pillars of Eternity: The White March where Sir Slash hit the Level Cap. You can still advance and get new Skills and Buffs but 15 is as high as you can go.  :'(  Here's Sir Slash striking his best 'Hero Pose' that drives all the Serving Wenches crazy for him.

We actually hold the game at my house.  It's all my daughter's fault.  She volunteered me to DM for some of her friends.  I asked some of my friends and we usually have a group of six.  Occasionally, we'll have more.  It is a good time though.

Bad ass, Slash. 15 is as high as you can go eh? Didn't know that either. Seems low.

It takes a while to get there but you're right it does seem a little arbitrary to stop at Level 15 though as I noted, you continue to hit Level-Ups and get buffs and new skills each time. Just the number never changes. Also even at the Level Cap, there's still enemies that Bitch-Slap me around pretty easily. Two Dragons in particular and those damned mercs at Craghold.

Polaris Sector is a great 4X space game, but so is Stellaris. I have campaigns going in both. They are different enough to enjoy them both at the same time, each does things better than the other. Polaris' ship building and fleet combat is far superior to Stellaris, but Stellaris' galaxy seems more alive, with many ongoing discoveries of anomalies needing research, often leading to interesting stories of long lost civilizations and such.  I feel like I'm in the golden age of 4X space games.

I played pretty much nothing but Stellaris and more of my Northumbrian campaign MTW/VI this past weekend.  So the usual.  ::)

Either that, or the "Silver Age".

I know a lot of fans of the genre disagree on this point, due to the mediocre/poor 4x titles that have been released his decade so far.  However, the sheer number and variety of 4x games that have come out in the last several years virtually guarantee there's something for everyone.  :)
