I almost got Steel Armor Blaze of War when it was on sale at Christmas but just could not pull the trigger because it's single player only.
My mate recently who has SABoW remarked "if only we could all get steel beasts pro PE cheaply and all play together".
What I really want to know is if SB-PE ever has sales or if their are alternative TANK simulators that are multiplayer.
This should be an entertaining thread...

That thread is long and convoluted so the short answer is no. eSims likes to point out you buy a cheap month at a time license. But you will have to keep rebuying it. And don't get me started on the dongle.
Dongle, Dongle, Dongle!!!

We're going to need a new book of the bible for that to apply.
You're missing out on Blaze of War. It's an awesome experience.
My problem is that my Steel Beasts PRO PE (and dongle) is so damned old that I would need to pay full price again to update. I barely played it because none of my friends had it and I did not want to join a clan and dedicate serious time.
Then their is the other problem of it just being too expensive for my friends who would rather flight sim.
Now if steel armor was multiplayer... that would probably scratch the itch.
So these two armoured tank sims are pretty much the choices at the moment? There is nothing else?
P.S. Did SB pro get challenger and good chopper mechanics in yet?
Nope. That's about it.

The only thing it needs is a dongle with vague instructions in Ukrainian

Well...pictures of the pretty single Russian/Ukranian ladies that deliver it (and themselves) to your door would be sweet!!! :smitten: <:-)

If they are serious Flight Simmers, that's a heck of a lot more expensive than Steel Beasts!

Chally 2 is in.
Chopper Mechanics are still poor. SB will never have good chopper mechanics, among other things. eSim has made it clear.

Exactly. They won't try anything outside their comfort zone at SBs price.

Just tell them it's the same price as Orbx FTX Global (or whatever it's called - haven't flown in along time)
Is ARMA 3 not an option? Not as hardcore as SB, but maybe good enough?
ARMA has always done vehicles very poorly. The physics are especially bad when it comes to vehicles.
P.S. I see people in challenger2 tanks in SBproPE... but the interior does not seem to be modelled. Anyone know if a proper challenger2 model is planned? The thing that really impressed me about the original SBproPE was the leopard2 interior. I also cannot understand whey the Abrams driver interior looks so bad, it does not seem to have been updated from day 1.
Did you consider the 'renting' options ?

This is not accurate. While not as high fidelity as a dedicated study sim, ARMA 3 has made great strides in improving vehicle handling and physics. Several patches and DLC have focused on enhancing the vehicle experience, most specifically with rotary aircraft. Furthermore, on the development roadmap, there are further major updates planned for fixed wing aircraft and tanks. Keep your eye on this in the coming year.

I'm looking forward to the next few DLC for ArmA. There's still lots of room for improvement for vehicles and AI - but at least the dev team is:
a) extremely transparent in their roadmap - and communicates it regularly - easily the best developer out there.
b) able to actually accomplish their goals, and on time.
c) constantly improving the game. honestly, I've seen more improvements in ArmA over the last year and a half than I've seen since OFP 1. Whoever is running the ArmA show is doing a fantastic job. Despite the fact that they're working with an engine that was developed in the 1990's, they seem to be worked towards greatness. Can't wait to see what this game looks like in 1, 5, 10 years.

Is this for the older historical ones?
