I feel like the biggest dink on this one.

I love this system.
I have this game. With the tank expansion.
Heck, I even wrote a piece for Tanksgiving about it and gave it many hugs.
The price is good.
It's not the vulgar cash-grab that is the digital Memoir '44.
Why, then, can't I see the sense in this? Particularly if you already have the game?
Or perhaps that's the point?
Personally I think board games that require lots of housekeeping are better candidates for digital conversion than the very light game system C&C is.
I also think the ancients or civil war version of this is more interesting than WW1. The scale just seems wrong for ww1 or later.
I thought someone was supposed to be doing C&C: Ancients digital too?
It looks interesting to me don't have the game.
For those who have it, it's a chance to play the game with random people all around the world. Get many games going at your own pace.

If they made C&C Ancients, I'd probably get it just to play MP over the 'net.
With all the busy work being done by the program, each battle probably wouldn't take very long either.
I just never thought a C&C WW1 would fit the system all that well. *shrug*
I guess I don't see the point in playing any game that simple on a PC. But, yeah, at $18, it's a darn site cheaper than what one pays for the base game...
I used to think I disliked block games. Then I realized that what I actually dislike is C&C, not block games in general. Digital or physical doesn't matter, this system just doesn't appeal to me at all.

How so? Is it the block mechanism (which really just represents unit reduction) or is it the "action card" or buckets o' dice mechanism? I must admit I was very hesitant to play C&C Ancients for this very reason, but once I got into it, have really enjoyed the "epic battles" that I have played. I recently picked up Napoleonics and though I have only played two games, I really enjoy it as well. In fact, I far prefer Ancients and Napoleonics to Memoir 44.

Well, I feel pretty much the same way about Memoir '44 as I do C&C, lumping them in as games of a type. Bucket's o' dice aren't my favorite mechanic, but I can live with them. Really, it's the "action card" system that I dislike. I just don't find it a compelling way of simulating command and friction. It doesn't feel to me like it gives anything close to reasonable results for the period simulated. But I'm very much toward the "simulationist" end of the spectrum and less toward the "gamer" side of things.
I also have to say that I really, really just don't like the maps. Or the whole "left, center, right" thing. The system just feels really contrived and "gamey" to me.
It's actually the randomness that I enjoy. I too love simulation games but sometimes you just don't want to have to think that hard. C&C is about making the best out of bad situations and each turn is a little puzzle. The randomness helps equalize skill tof a certain degree too so it's great to introduce people into wargames.
Looking at it from a larger strategic perspective: GMT is finally swinging into the digital market, and that's something we should all be supporting! :smitten:
While GMT's TS is a brilliant piece of kit -- especially on mobile -- this one's actually PSC and Memoir '44 is DoW.
My impression from their site is that GMT is getting in at the shallow end of the pool, i.e., more family-friendly games.
I do not expect digital Silver Bayonet anytime soon.
As to C&C, while my boon companion is correct in many of his assessments, it's the best system I've found for introducing the uninitiated to the hobby. Particularly with Ancients, it's a very short walk to some of the meatier games in the genre. Also, while I've played everything from CLS to "A Song of Drums and Shakos" -- and a lot of things in between, Glenn Drover's Leipzig, a C&C derivative, was the only occasion where I've ever seen that battle fought to a finish in four hours. Something there, I think me.
I certainly won't disagree that it's probably a good introductory system. Just not something I'd reach for if I wanted to play something either Napoleonic or Ancients myself.
well I bought it and played just the first scenario, I could not resist a game with dice, I found it felt like playing miniatures, and it did it very well, I have other games on steam from this sort of C&C game I think its fantasy, that one felt like a game, this one definatly was minatures and it felt good, I find I like complicated wargames, but because I don't play he same game regular I need to keep relearning the rules , this one was a pickup and play, so it fits a slot I have for quick enjoyment, the game play was narrow on the first scenario, until I found artilary, This game definatly definatly felt like miniatures, if you approach it with miniatures in mind you wont be dissapointed
On a side note chaps, crossplatform multiplayer is being tested at the moment and will be implemented for free in a good month or so.
So you will be able to play this also online on many different paltforms against eachother.
As this is build in Unity, expect a lot more gaming platforms will become available pretty soon.
A great start for the Command & Color game series going digital!

+1
Just as long as GMT doesn't go the route where they stop supporting free digital game boards such as Vassal and ZunTzu. I don't think they will, but other publishers have done so with varying degrees of success: DVG charges a hefty price for Vassal modules for example.
Come to think of it, I'm a little fuzzy that GMT has anything to do with the digital edition of Com/Col. ??? This may be a case of Matrix being the publisher instead of GMT?
