Sound familiar?
Oy vey.
I thought at first that the video would be a reaction to the cultural suicide going on in Germany today.
Nevermind me, folks. Brain fart. Move along, nothing to see here.
By all appearances, Hitler had a better turnout.
Not at all. Did you see the millions of people in DC? :D
I was talking with a close progressive friend of mine about Trump and the next couple of years. Normally, my friend is extremely logical and its very difficult to find cracks in his arguments. Our discussion on this occasion was a little different as my friend has become pretty convinced that Trump is about to turn the US into a totalitarian fascist dictatorship. When pressed for specifics about his arguments, he became noncommittal and vague.
I told him that when he is proven wrong about this serious accusation/prediction (which he certainly will be), why should I take him seriously in the future? This is about more than just my poor deluded friend, there will be serious repercussions in the future for the left in America. The left has put themselves in the position where if Trump turns out to be a normal, non-fascist president, they have lowered the bar of acceptable political conduct so low that whoever the next democratic president will be is going to called vile names as a matter of course. Every president henceforth might be called illegitimate. Putin is creaming his pants right now. Whatever plan he came up with has been wildly successful.
Even more, if Trump turns out to be a good president, the left as we know could be destroyed. How insane is that possibility? If Trump does well and America prospers, the democrats suffer because their rhetoric and willingness to brand Trump as Hitler and nearly half of America as racists within a hairsbreadth of becoming fascists will be the greatest intellectual poison liberals ever swallowed.
At this point, liberals better hope that Trump is Hitler, their political futures are now married to their insane rhetoric and it will have real consequences.
I said to my friend, you have a right to be mad about Planned Parenthood about to be defunded. You have a right to be mad about Obamacare being repealed. You can ever be bitter about all of Obama's executive actions being rolled back. I said what you can't be is delusional.
With any luck both the GOP and the Democratic Party will be destroyed and replaced with something less terrible.

Wouldn't that be great!
We can all dream.
Grogheads Political Party-- A Little Pot in Every Chicken & A Man-Cave in Every Garage. Or a suitably non-gender related area of entertainment.
Per my limited understanding, perhaps a move toward a parliamentary style government would be good and get us out of the two party system rut and the subsequent focus of power on one individual at top. Doubtful that would ever happen, mind you, but is that a crazy idea? I assume we'd be trading one set of problems for another but I'm honestly ignorant here.
You'd still have a Prime Minister as chief executive, and no royalty to (potentially) counterbalance him.
No, as the British just learned, the courts can and will overturn the vote of the people, just like here.
I nominate Pratt for President.
