I live just down the road from Tuskegee.  I've been to the George Washington Carver exhibit.

During the depression, both Tuskegee and Auburn worked on protein sources for poor people in the south.  Auburn developed aquaculture (raising catfish scientifically) during this time period.

Peanuts are part of Southern heritage... even if they're not always called "Peanuts".

Contrary to popular belief, George Washington Carver did not invent peanut butter.
