QuotePolice in Paris shot and injured a man who attacked an officer with a hammer at Notre-Dame cathedral in the center of the city.

The attacker pulled the hammer from his backpack and attacked a police officer on duty outside the cathedral, police union spokesman Yves Lefebvre told BFM TV. He was shot in the chest by another officer.
Video posted on social media from the scene shows what appears to be the attacker laying motionless on the ground next to a police officer.

Lucky he only went after the police. As bad as it is, he had enough honor to pick someone who could fight back.

From what I've gathered, the police (and militia?) in Paris have been a steady armed presence.  Stationed in many areas there.  Saw it described as, "looking like a war zone" with all the rifle-armed authorities about.

The key, here, is that they were obviously armed, which is a good thing.  The British police, who've been randomly attacked & killed, didn't even have guns.  Billy clubs seemed like the norm.

On reflection that may be true. Choosing the obviously tougher target when he could have struck at easier targets, sounds like a miniscule amount of honor, even though wrongly applied.  :-\
