It's hard to tell from the trailer which kind of Starship Troopers movie this is. The description suggests a straightforward sci-fi/action flick, but hopefully, they'll go the Verhoeven route of absurd dystopian satire, arguably the original film's true legacy as a cult classic.

what would be hilarious is if there's a background shot with Matt Damon's "space pirate" vehicle cruising along in the background

Or why Rico looks like Slade Wilson / Deathstroke now instead of his voice actor who played him in the live action movie.
The animated series, most or all of which I own, was rather interesting as a mix of closer-to-codex and Veerhoven's satire of fascism (not dystopianism).
