New Trailer was shown last night during the NBA final game.
Please, take my money right now. :-[
Cool.
Is the crazy white guy going to be Klaw?
EDIT:
From the IMDB page, seems like Andy Sirkis is indeed going to be Klaw.
With The Man-Ape making an appearance as well.
Wasn't he already in Age of Ultron?

If Grape Ape were making an appearance I would definitely see this movie.
He lost his hand in Age of Ultron so I'm guessing that's where the Klaw-part will come in.
I notice Martin Freeman is returning from his vaguely villainous role in Cap 3. I can't decide if that's interesting or not, but I appreciate the continuity.
Can't say I'm a fan of the music style for the trailer. :buck2: Glad to see BP on the way, tho!

Villainous? I took at as more of a "I'm a government employee and I don't care you can crush me into paste but I'm going to wave my big dick and you'll listen to me"
That man has dealt with government employees before. :pullhair:
While I agree that's the take in Cap3, I was thinking of Martin Freeman's own description when being interviewed about who he had been cast as -- which was at the time shrouded in some secrecy. Hiring Freeman for a minor side roll semi-antagonist, seems like overkill.
I don't remember Freeman in Cap-Am 3...
What did he do there?
Bring a towel? be gay for Cumberbutch? Steal 'Precious'?
He had a minor role as the new head of the new UN style 'Avengers Management' program as I remember. He also was in charge of the captured bad guys, the Winter Soldier and the guy that cause all the fuss in Capt. 3 Civil War. Funny that all the good guys were kept in an under-ocean fortress-prison but the real bad guys were kept in Freeman's Space where, of course, Winter Soldier escaped easily. :wow:
The villain was their idiotic take on Baron/Lord Zemo.
Captain America's nemsis for quite a while in the comics (Zemo was responsible for the death of Bucky, which is why Cap hates him, and cap
superglued [accidentally though] Zemo's silly sock-mask to his face back in the 1940's, which is why Zemo hates him).
That's the guy, Zemo. I wonder was Freeman's character ever in the comics? I suspect he'll be somebody important at some point. Maybe one of Thanos' love children?
Found some info about this guy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everett_K._Ross
That answers my question. Thanks Tpek. O0

I have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Why, because I never read the comics, or at least never got that involved with them to know all of the canon. So for people like me, I'm fine with what I saw. From what your saying, this character will be back and we'll learn a lot more about him.
Oh, okay: this guy is actually one of BP's biggest allies! Huh, cool.
Note, despite his last name, no relation to General Thunderbolt Ross (who is his boss in the MCU).

Or maybe he is, and it's all nepotism. :P
The cap scheduled to die in the next film - can't remember where I read it though
The working theory is he dies in Infinity War. Chris Evans is at the end of his contract and he's been pretty vocal about not wanting to do the role beyond the current contract. The speculation is that Sebastian Shaw (Bucky) takes over as the next Cap.
As in a change of actor or Bucky decides to become the new cap?
In comics canon Falcon takes over as Cap; so my money is on that. And I'm okay with that, too.
I'd also be okay if they didn't kill Cap off in Infinity War (or not permanently; in the comics lots of heroes died and got brought back because magic stones), but just retired him to run Shield or something. Or retired him as the President. ;)
Just please don't have the Tesseract become a sentient hot teen girl named Tessa who decides to rewrite reality so that Rogers was secretly a Hydra agent the whole time. :buck2:

So, who will be the new Bucky? And how could Bucky be Cap with a giant metal arm with a Soviet Red Star on it? Wouldn't that kind of stand-out? Maybe Stark will have one of his Ironman robots play Cap for awhile. After all he does have the shield. What I'm thinking is that the Steven Rogers they found frozen in ice is really the Red Skull and the real Steve Rogers is still at the North Pole. And really old and shriveled-up and wrinkled. And cold. BTW Do you think Thor and Nick Fury could swap eyepatches? Was it the same eye they both lost? And if they stood side by side, would they be able to see everything around them.... or be totally blind? Lots to ponder here. I better have a drink.

As canonically ignorant as I am, I'd heard this as well. How so the comics handle Captain America with a Sovsteel arm?
Not for very long. ;) Falcon has been the official Cap now for a while.
(I don't recall for sure, but I think they either just painted over the star or had the arm covered up in the usual light armor.)
It could well turn out that Falcon (Anthony Mackie) becomes the new Cap, but both Bucky and Falcon have been Captain America in the books.
Captain America may not even be Captain America in Infinity War
http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/wait-did-chris-evans-just-confirm-he%E2%80%99s-playing-nomad-in-infinity-war
Oh I expect he's playing a version of "Nomad", yep.
Now what's interesting is that Avengers 4 (which was originally going to be the second part of Infinity War) is about finished shooting! -- and Stark and Rogers are both definitely in it, but Stark has blonde hair and Rogers is wearing his Avengers 1 uniform.
We know from other leaks that the next Ant-Man film (now properly featuring the Wasp, incl in the title) will be introducing the multiverse, and Ant-Man features prominently in Av4, so...
Oh good, the multiverse. The excuse for anything happening ::)
So he'll be called, "The Superhero formerly known as Captain America". Could work.

Avengers 4: What If...?
(Well, the Watchers
were officially introduced in GotG2 after all.)
Considering that there has been a lot of noise about Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine for Av4, a film that has almost finished shooting, I wouldn't be too surprised if this is how the Fox properties get re-introduced back home, so to speak. Fantastic Four? Explorers from the 1960s who enter the main MCU through a dimensional rift, quite classic as a theme for them (and they introduced the Watcher, too). Mutants per se might be a lot harder as they have such a huge cast. But one of the Infinity Stones (or some combination of them) might be used as an excuse to fold some version of their continuity into the MCU as though the history already happened in the MCU, while also retroactively explaining the goofy-ass half-continuity their films have been suffering for practically the whole run.
So there's hope Prince Namor will show-up. Or Swim-up.
And if Disney will just buy Legendary Pictures, they'll have the right to make an MCU adaptation of the 24 issue Godzilla miniseries from the late 70s. Ideally with the original Herb Trimpe designs (still used by Toho themselves for their own 'icon' trademark for Godzilla, btw!)
(...that was originally supposed to have some connection to Namor, but then I got too distracted by the better possibilities involved... :D )
Meanwhile, while I have nothing particularly against the Black Panther character, I have to confess I'm amused about how much this thread isn't about him or his movie. We must all be horrible racists and should be purged as deplorables etc. :hide:

Avowedly "alt-right" internet commenter "Black Pigeon" suggests trolling the radical left with memeing and macro-posting Black Panther as an alt-right icon as the film hits internationally.
While that's a somewhat valid interpretation of his character throughout the decades, I'd be more interested in seeing an essay on how the character idealizes the terrorist gang "Black Panthers" at the juxtoposition between fascism and socialism.

I made the mistake of doing a search using "Black Panther movie" and "SJW" and found some sh*tstorm threads where people are arguing wholeheartedly about appropriating African culture, and "continental Africans" versus "diasporic Africans"...people can't just relax and enjoy a movie, for chrissakes.
I'm going to see it tonight.
To be honest, with all the bullshit that goes with movies nowadays (and I'm talking about both sides of the fence), I'll just keep my impressions to myself.
I'd definitely be interested in your opinion, JD. It'll probably be a week or two before I can get to the theater to see it. I don't care what people think, I'm going to check it out regardless. I like the character, myself.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/18/movies/black-panther-box-office-records.html
QuoteThe Disney-Marvel movie "Black Panther," which finds the superheroic T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returning to his remote African kingdom to assume the throne, roared into theaters over the weekend as a full-blown cultural event, breaking box office records and shattering a myth about the overseas viability of movies rooted in black culture. Global ticket sales by Monday will total an estimated $387 million, according to comScore.
"Black Panther" instantly became the top-grossing film in history by a black director (Ryan Coogler) and featuring a largely black cast. The previous record-holder was "Straight Outta Compton," which collected $214 million worldwide in 2015 — over its entire run — after adjusting for inflation.
Disney, which supported "Black Panther" with a lavish nine-month marketing campaign, said on Sunday that ticket sales for the film in North America will total roughly $218 million between Friday and Monday. Theaters scrambled to add show times to accommodate crowds; AMC Southlake 24 in suburban Atlanta squeezed in 84 show times on Friday alone. In many cities, moviegoers arrived in outfits inspired by the film.
Analysts had expected "Black Panther" to arrive to about $165 million in North American ticket sales, which would itself have been an astounding result for a release outside the holiday and summer corridors. The previous domestic record-holder for a February release was "Deadpool," which collected an adjusted $159 million over Presidents' Day weekend in 2016.
It's great that it's doing so well, but I wonder how much of it is from being the first film feature a black superhero, and how much due to being the last stand alone film before Infinity War. Would it have done as well if they had swapped Black Panther and Thor: Ragnorak. Pretty much a mute point, but just a curiosity question.

Hancock
Blade I
Blade II
Blade III
Steel
Spawn
Blankman
Meteor Man
Catwoman
...not to mention the countless black superheroes in comics.
I saw a response to the RLM review of Black Panther on YouTube...something along the lines of, "I'm so glad we got our 80th first black superhero movie."
Obviously not 80, and yes definitely not that many black superheroes in film as opposed to crackas, but still. Far from the first one.
Yeah I've seen a few stories online mentioning Blade. The first one in that series is really good too, IMHO.
I guess some of those I don't think of as superhero movies. I like Hancock a lot, but I didn't think of it as much of a superhero movie in the same since of the MCU movies.
I think the difference between those you listed and BP, is that BP is part of a very successful lineup of movies. The others you listed were always stand alone, except for the Trinity movies, which I also liked a lot. But again, I guess I don't think of the Trinity movies as a superhero movie and more of a vampire movie.

Fair points. I've seen a lot of discourse on the Internet with people acting like this is the first time a black person has starred in a film; what I think is more significant though is that it might be a powerhouse of a film since it has the MCU behind it, and there haven't been many of those (Metor Man / Blankman didn't exactly roll in the dollars).
Blade is fantastic. I just introduced my daughter to it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching it again. Wesley Snipes is beyond cool in that role, and the cinematography is absolutely amazing.
Blade 2 and 3 as well? I've only seen the first one.
2 was good, too. And 3 had Parker Posey. What more could you ask for?

WW was very Greek Tragedy type movie. My wife the ancient history major concentrating in Greek confirmed my impression. Good movie, but classic Greek theater norms.
Blade 1 & 2 were very good.
You are forgetting about "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" that defined the entire trope of Black Action Hero.
But is Black Panther the first 'African' black superhero? I can't think of any others offhand. Shaka Zulu doesn't count.

+1. I have the DVD around here somewhere. I think it might be time to watch it again to see if I still feel the same about it.
Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was pretty good. RLM was correct, in some ways. The bad guy was interesting, but his motivations were not at all unique or fresh (typical revenge stuff, nothing new here).
