Tech screw up. Must have been testing something. I can reach the home page now.

Wonder what they plan on making premium content.

It said "bonus" articles and free "gifts" from gog. Sounds very enticing...

Wait. Is this something they've been doing for a while?

They are not alone :  https://www.wargamer.fr/abonnement/    (nothing to do with the Wargamer in the US)

Abonnement annuel = 30 euros pour les articles réservés aux abonnés         (maybe they can get away with it because there aren't that many strategy games sites in french)

Oh, it doesn't surprise me really. A lot of sites do some kind of "premium" content tied to a subscription. Didn't realize RPS was doing it.

And blocking the home page behind the paywall is a bit of a goof, but they seem to have fixed it quick enough.

This is just the first step in a slippery slope. Now they just want your money, next they will require purchase of a dongle embossed with a large RPS logo in 14k gold leaf to view exclusive content. You have been warned!

There was actually a Fletcher in Stronghold that had the name "Hairy Dongle."

You use your imagination on that one. :DD

I always found RPS articles a bit of a mixed bag. I hope for them they have a lot of subscribers, otherwise I can see this nose diving pretty quickly as readers migrate to free sites with good quality articles.

Agreed. I have yet to read any article from RPS that I would pay for.

I like them well enough but I wouldn't pay for anything over there either.
