It sounds good but could be a tough series to do true justice to. But... Where there's a will, there's a Hue. Next.

That snippet makes it sound like they'll try to jazz up the character drama a large amount. :-\

Considering that we did win the Battle of Hue, quite decisively, and that we did in fact win the war (in the sense that our goals were to destroy the Viet Cong as an effective group and force the NVA to stop invading), I'm going to guess that "ma[king] clear that Vietnam was an unwinnable war for the U.S" is part of the fictional Hollywooding. ::)
That the NVA regrouped, restocked with modern Soviet weapons, and quickly curbstomped the next Vietnam war against ARVN a few years later without us, doesn't mean
we lost the first time.
I'll be curious to what degree the VC and/or NVA are whitewashed, too.
That said, a politically messy ground-eye view is both realistic (to at least some degree) and good drama. O0
