I have grown to have a love hate relationship with these things. I love doing the research. Seeing what was released that year. Remembering songs and videos and what I was doing when I heard them. I hate the agony of having to decide which songs to leave out. There are sooooooo many good songs from this year that didn't make it. And as I go through these years with an eye towards what I will include in the Wild Card Brackets, I can't help but feel despair. For a metric buttload of great songs
STILL will be left out. Anyways, I am grateful as ever that all of you continue to follow along. And thank you for voting :)

Thanks, Barth. Wishing I made New Years Day or Sunday Bloody Sunday my 2, but I really like Two Hearts... better than both of the others.
A bunch of these were pretty easy for me - even the ones that I don't really like
And while I might quibble with S-II as a #1 seed, it's one of my favorite Police songs, so it's nice to see it on the countdown.

After looking at Wikipedia it looks like it was '81 and After the Fire was'82. It entered the US charts in early '83.
Either way, the Falco version is better. ^-^
Honestly, the only matchup that was close for me was the 4/13. Both are pop icons, both were flagship songs for the artists and both remain popular today. The rest of my selections were easy, at least for this round. Lots of good songs overall.
