Thoughts on gameplay? I played Distant Guns and enjoyed it for a bit. I'd like to keep the DRM discussion out of it and focus just on the game itself. How are the tutorials? Immersion? Excitement? Does it feel like WWI? Also has anyone purchased any of the additional content?

Not really any tutorial.
Learning the camera controls is the big hump. While the interface command "flyouts" take a little use before you 'click' with the concept, some of the camera controls are a real pain. Luckily you only need to know how to select (squadron leader) ships after toggling the Follow view on. Also note that the interactive Map window blows - the game would've been so much better if they had refined the map interface and made it more visually crisp & user friendly. Still, I find that selecting units on the map is the way to go, even if they look like hazy blobs on it at most zoom views.
I enjoyed the gameplay well enough. The graphics look pretty dated - quite so for how poorly they run. But at least it has something pretty to look at. As for the actual battles, I enjoy Steam & Iron more. A good amount due to interface reasons. But S&I doesn't have an open campaign layer (yet).

Agree wholeheartedly. The camera views are silly and a pain for me. After the first 30 seconds, I turned them off and played from the tiny map plot. SaI has everything you need and nicely ignores features like the shell-camera and 3D imagery.

To be honest, I've spent more time in Jutland just admiring the ships' graphics than playing the game. The interface design choice is a poor one, IMO. I've never been able to get used to it.
As for an actual gaming experience, Steam and Iron beats Jutland, hands down.
You have all convinced me to not pull the trigger on this one. Anyone have a Steam & Iron link?

Late last week I was actually looking into Navies at War and Steam & Iron. One of my PBEM regular opponents said that he really liked Steam & Iron over NAW.
I am feeling a void for playing a good Naval Warfare covering WWII/WWI eras. I use to own Thunder At Sea years ago and enjoyed it until I was forced to upgrad from Win98 to WinXP and then I found out that TAS wouldn't run on XP. I have never found a replacement.
I wish someone would come out with a really good PBEM Naval Warfare game.

Well there is War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition. I'm deep into a Guadalcanal Scenario in PBEM and the Japs
have savaged me a couple of times (nothing as bad as what really happened to the Allies) and that takes
some seriously sneaky work for the Japs in that scenario.
