After the 1967 Bracket, I didn't think we'd have another year so chock-a-block full of great songs.  And especially not as soon as the very next Bracket.  But, I think you will agree that there is nothing but hits in the 1977 Bracket.  Some all time great songs from the Eagles, Queen, Boston, Heart, and on, and on, and on.  The 15 and 16 seeds would be top 4 in almost any other year.  Instead, they are fodder for true music super hits.  And it just keeps on coming.  I hope you have a harder time voting this than I did putting it together.  As always, thank you so much for coming along with me on my journey.   :bd:

Honestly, first round of this one wasn't too hard, b/c almost every matchup has a song I don't like.

yeah, next round had the potential to suck, unless ones I really liked make it thru against the ones I really don't

Some hard choices but similar to Brant there are a lot of songs that are overplayed for me so easy to not pick'em.

Can't stand Hotel California, so that was an easy choice. The rest, not so much.

If I seeded these by my personal preference, many of these songs wouldn't make it.  I absolutely loathe Hotel California.  But when I choose the songs for each year, I try to err on the side of significance.  And part of the reason you hate HC is due to it's massive appeal and constant radio play.  Hence, the 1 seed.  The same with We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions.  Do I still have any love for either song...no.  But they are YUGE hits.  (I said 'hits') and they deserve the respect of a 2 seed.  Now, can I TELL you which way you should vote?  No, and I wouldn't try.  But, I sometimes think that the results we get are biased against the earworms of yesterday that have become less, 'wormy,' over time.  And that's a shame.

I usually add weight to the songs where I bought the album.  Never bought any Beatles or Rolling Stones albums.  Not sure why. 

One thing I've found is that people like music for almost as many reasons as there are songs.  So I get that even if a song is a big hit and ever present, you can still not like it from the very beginning rather than grow into your dislike.  Also, it never ceases to amaze me how people acquire the 'playlist' of their lives and how often, or how little, intersection there is between people.  Our good friend B_C just heard Van Morrison's 'Moondance,' album for the first time the other day.  That just dumbfounds me, but, I am super glad to share what I think of as a stellar album with someone else and have them appreciate it, too.  One of the many reasons why I love music.

Don't get me wrong, MD. I know that song was YUGE. One of the reasons I can't stand it! ;D

The only Eagle I like is Joe Walsh.

I can stomach Glenn Fry and Don Henley in very, very small doses.

I was going to say something similar.  They're boring.  I always thought HC was a dumb song, just full of dumb cliches.

Glenn Frey was a pompous blowhard.. his solo stuff was commercial crap. his treatment of Don Felder was total BS. .I mean like it or hate it Hotel California was their biggest hit, and that doesn't exist without Felder. Agreed MD, Joe Walsh is the man. When they did their comeback tour, Joe's stuff was what got people on their feet when they were stroking their egos throwing their solo stuff in there.

When I saw them in 2003 on their "Reunion Tour Part 1" they played Joe's "Turn to Stone" but that was the only solo tune they played.  Everything else was from the Eagles' catalog. 

Round Two looks to have some good matchups. I was very happy to see Bob Seger run away with the first round. His "Stranger in Town" concert is still the best concert I ever attended. I wore that t-shirt until it was falling off of me   8)
