I've interacted with some of those people -- I mean the ones who don't realize the original thing was a trollish anti-Christian joke.
They can watch a cruise line literally sail over the curve of the horizon -- I mean at high magnification where the detail is obvious -- and think it's just disappearing in haze. <:-)
yeah, there was plenty of ridicule on the local news around here this weekend
plus this...

Sure, make fun. But if the world really is round why are all of our board game maps flat? :hide:

Living all my life in probably the flattest state in the Union, I can say there's good things about 'flatness'. First of all nothing ever rolls away from you when you put it down, it just sits there. Also nobody feels inferior to anybody else because nobody's big fancy house sits on a hill lording over the rest of us. Flatness means you can always see rain when it's coming as well as unwanted visitors like some relatives and Jehovah's Witnesses ( no offense intended). It's great for some games like Bowling and Shuffleboard, both very big here in Fla. Not so much for Soapbox Derby. And you can always see Police and Firetrucks/Ambulances coming unless they're behind a big truck. Flat is good for keeping water in your pool and cars in your driveway. And it makes lawn mowing much easier. Lots of good stuff about being flat but it'd get old if the whole world was that way. ;D
Where in FL do you live? My family lives in Sarasota.
Spawned a great song by Bad Religion:

Isn't the highest point in Florida some hill w/ a traffic light near Alabama?
^ No, I think that's a landfill near Tampa where the porn companies dump their trash.

Appropriate meme! :2funny: -- but many FEs think the disc is surrounded by an unscalable wall of ice. Therefore, it would be cat proof (and water wouldn't fall off the rim).
I feel dumber even typing that.
(My
impression is that the modern FE movement generally acknowledges other spatial bodies are spherical, including in our solar system. It's only the Earth that's a world in a jar, more or less.)

They'd agree with that -- they don't think the surface is square or hexagonal, but rather that it's circular. (No need to clip corners!)
Great pun in the article title tho!
I am in Desoto County Ubercat, about one county over from Sarasota, which is not the highest point in Florida. But we do have a lovely hill west of town. Created by the good folks at Public Works, it houses our discarded household items and gives a great view of the surrounding woods and swamp. Sometimes we locals gather there in the evening to watch the sun go down. And dump our garbage. And shoot BB's at the buzzards. And garbage trucks. :bd:
