I saw some reviews on Trip Advisor for a resort in Maine that were pretty obviously fake and intended to pump up the rating of the place. I reported the bogus reviews, but Trip Advisor didn't do anything.

I just really don't trust trip advisor , even without knowing that ...what you just said , that they did nothing when you reported a scam , which is annoying >:( But I think , what one person thinks is a rubbish place to stay at , might actually be ok . I think some people want to just find fault with everything , and then other people will say it's fine , and it's an absolute hell hole of a place ! I've stayed in a couple of hotels that haven't had great reviews on trip advisor , and they've been great :)
