McMaster University in California has put up a huge selection of maps.  Besides this group for World War II, there are also sections for World War I, Russo-Japanese War, and much more.
This should be very useful for game designers.

The maps are great, but "Big Mac" University is in Hamilton, Ontario.  I think everyone in Ontario wants to be in California right now though.
