They're not talking about rebooting, but doing factory reset and then updating the firmware.
They suggested just a reboot back when I first posted this. Now it seems a bit more complicated than just that.

I'm confused, they say to update the firmware and then reset. You say reset and then update firmware. Which is it?
Both. Updating the firmware amounts to two resets, one before and one after (although I think the updating does that automagically).
