Now that the sale is over I thought some may want to list a tally of their purchased games and more importantly if you have had a chance to play these games - what are your impressions of them?
Steam didn't grab my attention much with this sale... I only bought one thing.... Iron Front....
I picked up Take on Helicopters/Hind as well as ARMA2 Combined Operations and its BAF and Private Military Contracter DLC. So far Helicopters runs like a sick pig on my 'puter but I'm hoping there are some tweeks I can find. ARMA2 is new for me so I'm trying to get a handle on the many key commands and interface popups. My first very brief multiplayer stint was less than glorious- I got whacked twice, once while sticking my fool head up out of a vehicle hatch (sorry, Command Tent!). I'm also trying to understand the whole earning and buying thing. I tried to buy a LAV25 to drive but I ended up with a 'bot vehicle that followed me around like a pet dinosaur. ???
I got a bunch of Civ V DLC, Rage, and Limbo for myself and I bought Skyrim for a friend.

It's only that one type of map that uses the buying system. It is kinda weird. Anyway, if you want to take over a vehicle that you bought, you just have to use the Function keys to select one of the crew members, press the"1" key and select "disembark". THen you can hop in and take control. (you should also order the disembarked crew member to madly charge at the nearest available enemy. Otherwise he'll act like a clingy girlfriend and keep demanding to know where you are.)
I did not buy a single game from Steam during its Summer Sale. I don't know whether to be happy or cry.

I did not list the games I bought in the original post because I was too embarrassed by the fact that I gave into temptation.
I started out good and only purchased some DLC for Crusaders Kings II (which I still need to try someday). But then my resistance disappeared as the sale when on and I wound up also buying Anno 2070, Stronghold 3 and the Gratuitous Space/Tank Battles bundle.

Ended up picking up more than I planned. Now I just need some TIME to download and play these.

I also got more than I planned on: Arma II: Combined Operations, Take on Helicopters + Hinds (gifted), Deus Ex: Human Evolution and The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition. Now I just need some time :/
The fact that my wallet had already been hit pretty hard that week with the release of Decisive Campaigns:Case Blue combined with the fact that I already had just about anything I had an interest in held me in check. All I got was Fable III and Portal 2, plus someone had an extra copy of Bioshock 2, which they kindly gifted to me.
I did better then I thought I would. I got mostly cheap DLC for CKII, CivV, and ARMA II. I also got Stronghold 3 but I'd rather not talk about that....

Its all good. The best way to learn is to jump in with other people and ask. You'll be blowing up badies in no time. You did have some bad luck getting shot out of the hatch. The enemy spawned at a machine gun emplacement right before you popped out and I couldn't type fast enough to warn you. We've got to see if we can get voice chat working on that server.

I only bought Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, Fallout NV Ultimate Edition, and Crusader Kings II with all the DLC. Was hoping Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion would have gone on sale, but wasn't surprised it didn't since its a new game.
Yeah, I'd love to have Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion but I'm not paying £25 for a goddamn expansion.
Got Left 4 Dead 2. So so game.

I was very restrained because I'm on holiday next month, I just bought Thunderbolt Apache Leader boardgame and I have my army reunion in 2 weeks - and that always costs a shed load of money.

Train Simulator is such an eye candy. That's a money sucker as well. Did you get any add-ons?
Part of the reason I justified buying it was because it came with addons. I don't know how many are out there, but I think it came with about 6 addons. In total, the package at full price was £150 - and I got it for £30.
I just thought it would be something different. It's not engrossing or frenetic - but it has a charm. A bit like MS Flight Simulator I think..."things to do" are short, but there's "something" there
I did start a "campaign" - but got fed up bolting through a point that I had not registered and therefore the brakes kicked in. Where there are caution points, you go over a connector(?) and it sets an alarm off in the cab. You then have to click a button to say you acknowledge the caution...well if you are using an outside view, you do not get the loud warning noise - and you miss pressing the button - and therefore you're emergency brakes come on...and that kills your score. I basically done this about 4 times on a 90 minute train journey - and gave up...not out of frustration, but because I wasn't paying attention and therefore missing these points.
I do find navigating your way through yards to be very complicated. Sometimes (from what I gather) you have to manually change tracks - and sometimes the zoom feature cannot zoom out enough with enough detail to allow you to navigate the yard well enough.
Anyhoo...it's alright. Like I said - it has a charm to it. It's feels quite rewarding doing a "mission" correctly.
I'm sticking with Trainz Classic 3, since I have a lot of time invested in it, although I may get T12 next time its on special.
