I admit I loved the live-action show when I was but a wee person. But that was a looooong time ago.
My affinity for Shazam and the fact that CHUCK is playing the title role...well, this I gotta see.
I had zero idea until just now that this was a thing. I'm surprised you guys didn't post this trailer already, unless I missed it somewhere.
It looks fun. Zachary Levi is perfect for the role.
He does bring something to that character, and that's why I would gladly see it at a theater.
Aquaman, though...meh.
See, I had the exact opposite response. And I like Captain Marvel / Billy Batson as a character, in principle and usually in practice. I like Zarchary Levi and thought he stole every scene in Thor 2 (the few scenes he was in as Farandal, Thor's Errol Flynn-ish buddy). I have all 5 seasons of Chuck on Blu, literally standing on a table within arm's reach. I even like the story hook, in principle.
But the execution looks like an Adam Sandler comedy, most of which I can't stand. :-\
I dunno. I ended up liking The Green Hornet modern adaptation a lot more than I thought I would (despite a few critical mis-steps here and there).
(Full disclosure: the Chuck set is standing there to remind me to watch the series someday. I've never seen a single frame of it. Parents gave it for Christmas one year, because it was on my list and they couldn't yet understand how Amazon sorts ranking request from Highest to Lowest. BUT I DO HAVE IT!)
Watch Chuck and you may feel differently about Levi as Shazam. Even if you don't, at least you'll have watched Chuck.

One of my employees was out meandering around at a county fair or something a few years ago (March 6th, 2011), and came across John.... Badonsta, or whatever his name was (too lazy to look it up on imdb), who was signing autographs of b/w promotional photos for the Shazam TV show. So he got one for himself, and one for me!
It's sitting on one of my desks (or under it on a table, sort of), less than 5 feet away, as I type this. :coolsmiley:
