I know I have seen several of your works in the various forums, looks like you'll have an opportunity to build your creations virtually in Q4 2020....Judge Dredd, this has your name written all over it:)

:D
But not for a year yet.... :(
I appreciate the nod - but I don't think that would be for me.
Like wargaming, there's a specific thing missing which completely removes the appeal...that tangible feel.
Not to mention I doubt it's going to have the trials and tribulations of model making like poor fit, screwing up mixing paint and thinner, messing up your paint scheme. I just can't see the appeal of this I'm afraid.
Except - if you were going to be able to try EVRY model so you could see what they might look like - but again, that's part of the fun.
Nah - digitally modelling to me is like digital board gaming - there's too much lost to make it even a remotely similar experience.
Thanks again though
yep, i was mostly just kidding:). seems like it would be hard to enjoy through a computer
With JD's luck, there would be some technical issue and the game wouldn't run anyway. He's better off sticking with the frustrations of the real thing. :2funny:
Hmmm....I may be in the minority here but I think it might just be pretty cool. I don't have the space or funds (or talent) for serious model building. This might be a fun alternative.
Releases tomorrow for about $20 I believe.
if youre not building the real thing why bother?
I assume for the same reason some folks like to digitally draw and paint images on the computer versus on actual paper and canvas. Plus I guess people will use it as an opportunity to try out designs before doing the real thing and maybe explore models they would never actually purchase.
Guess we will see when people get their hands on it, although it seems a title like this prime for dlc overload for kits:)
I do a fair amount of mini painting and modeling
For me its a zen thing that helps me destress - and like zen its a sum of parts that a simulation cant replicate such as touch smell and working to overcome mistakes, breathing to hold the brush steady, getting the paint consistency just right to flow it into that hard to reach spot, how the shading/washes come out. Just too many things to list - doesn't work for me
If it was more of a tutorial that showed better ways/techniques with some limited interaction then I would be more interested.

At first thought, I wonder why I would play this... When I was young, I loved building real models.
But on second thought, maybe not a bad idea. The problem with models for me is that after I have built one, what do I do with it?
This seems to solve that problem.
It's out for $17.99. Thought it was interesting to see the publisher listed as Green Man Gaming.

If your GMG XP Gold member, looks like discounted to $14.39 now. Now idea how I ever got that membership as I never signed up for anything, but often get discounts to their games:) That is interesting them being a publisher.....

Sell 'em on eBay - that's what I do.
I think I've made circa £500 selling the models I made. I had no idea there would be a market for it - after all, for me, the enjoyment is in the creation.
But people will buy them (no idea if they were individuals or people working for museums or something - Bovington Tank Museum in the UK has a HUGE collection of models made by people).

But - it's been slow going. I've been focussing on playing Fields of Fire.
Selling models on eBay couldn't be a business. Not for me anyway. I normally didn't make the cost of the model back, let alone paints etc. But - it depended on the subject matter.
But it saved trying to find space to put them. I didn't need them around - I enjoyed building and painting them. I was happy for someone else to pay to have them. It was my daughter that suggested I sell them...I had no idea there'd be a market for built and painted models - go figure
^That's a really interesting build. Don't see lots of those around. Hope you'll post some progress photos!
try Luft46.com and youll see why US airplanes developed the way they did in the late 40s and 50s.

Will do - but I warn you - it's slooooow going. I've lost my model making mojo at the moment.
I'll post updates in the modelling forum
I refuse to believe that. Next thing you'll tell us is there's no real Easter Beaver. :beaver2:
