Still in early access, but I think it has a lot of potentials.

Let's play - walkthrough:
Thanks for sharing, seems like Game Labs is a very busy company nowadays:) Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts, Age of Sail, Naval Action, Gettysburg, etc.
In case folks don't notice, you can pre order the game now and get access, if you want....typical $49.99 price for their pre release games.

I am so grateful that GameLabs exist...I am interested in each of their titles.
Love the concept! I'm a survival game junkie and I've felt the West was an underutilized genre for years, which makes this game one to keep track of. Awesome.
Reading through the descriptions, I didn't see where the game is actually set, geographically. Different eras/areas/tribes would be awesome. I would kill for a game like this set in the mid 17th century in NY or NE!

I'd prefer Great Lakes, or Canada's Pacific Northwest. :) but that's me.

I want scenarios all over the country, but that's me.
I want one set in World War One Arabia! :D
...oh, wait, I own one of those already. (Note to self, check in how that development is going...)
But srsly, I'm up for this.

Which game is that?
Ah hahahaha, you want me to try to load up Steam upon the first day of the Halloween sale, ah hahahahahaha!! :2funny:
Me: {trying anyway} {since it is after all the first day of the Steam Halloween sale}
Steam: No.
Okay, fortunately I was able to get into my library despite Steam flatly refusing to let me into the store, and that WW1 Arabian survival game is called Badiya: https://store.steampowered.com/app/545050/
Steam also flatly refused to let me see its store page. ::)
Try the magic word.
Is that the safe word, or a different word? :hide:

Gus doesn't believe in safe words.
'Please.'
On too much consideration, that's a really scary safe word...
Steam let me on, but doesn't indicate the Halloween sale is running... ???
Can't get to my wishlist to verify whether tons of things are on sale.
For me the sale began at 1pm EST.
released to early access on steam for $40

Tempting...looks incredible.
I'm definitely interested, but not enough to pay them $40 to be their beta tester -- not yet anyway.
Agreed...39.99 though...😎

Yep, this. It made me kind of laugh when I read in the game description:
defining your narrative through the decisions you make. Don't think I'll be paying $40 to define my narrative in a Beta version of the game. But maybe down the road. We'll have to see how this develops. And I noticed they had some bigger area maps. Do you move around those like Mount and Blade and then go back to a first person view when entering a town, farmstead, fort, etc.? It does have some scenic screenshots and an interesting setting.
It also may be kind of tricky to make and keep it a fun game and not something else. The description mentions revenge, vengeance, retaliation and describes poisoning groceries. Then they show a screenshot of a wagon train, small town or farmstead. The native Americans themselves are shown to have encampments (part of the scenic appeal). So will the game just make all the characters military aged males and disregard the women, children, elderly people, non-combatants that would have also been in many of these locations? Not sure how to pull that off.
I know it probably sounds strange but I have no problem with my military aged character coming across another military aged character and shooting him in the face. ;D But if the other dude has his wife/kids cowering behind him inside the farm house or teepee then ......... it's no longer a game that helps you escape the realities of real life (IMO).
Interested to see if they can make this a narrative worth defining.........
I'm not interested in this at all. The title, the concept the setting...none if it appeals to me... :peace:
But you still bought it, right?
You will be.
You will be.
Looks cool but being honest, the screenies just make me want to go load up RDR2. :/
Also regarding the name -- it just keeps popping that quote from that old Jib Jab election video back into my head. "This land was my land.... BUT NOW IT'S OUR LAND!" :2funny:
Jib Jab! Classic.
Has anyone here played this one at all? I'm absolutely in love with the Spaghetti Western setting and will gladly eat up any good offerings in a tangentially related setting. Also, the idea of being a native warchief in the dying west is an untapped goldmine. Without a sale it's a bit expensive for my EA tastes unless it's basically done and being QA'd.
Totally forgot about it, to be honest. Curious how much progress they've made in the last year.
It looks an interesting game, but has some weird elements like the karma feature. Why would killing those who would kill you be bad karma??
It is a bit too pricey for me. Maybe in a sale.... at the right price!
I've just been waiting for the early access to mature.

This is one of the things I can't stand about Red Dead Redemption II (not the first one). If you aggravate a townsfolk enough, even just by standing in front of their cart and blocking their way for too long, they whip out a gun and start lighting you up. If you shoot back, you lose Honor (basically the same as karma) and get a big bounty, and the whole town starts blasting you. The first game never had a problem recognizing shooting someone in self defense outside a scripted encounter.

al, That reminds me of Skyrim, the first time I went into town I accidentally killed somebody's chicken and the whole town went homicidal on me and chased me for a mile down the road. I was laughing so hard I couldn't fight back. :2funny:
I purchased TLIML many months ago, and put a few hours into it. Life has been crazy for me since then, so really haven't had a chance to dive in too deep since then.
However, in general, I liked what I saw. The game had a good sense of immersion and a nice open world feel. I didn't play enough to make a recommendation one way or the other. But I definitely want to keep playing some more.

I had a similar (not a chicken) incident in Skyrim. Instantly, somehow, everyone in the entire city knew what had happened and went berserk in efforts to kill me.
I have put a few more hours into TLIML and can speak to the beginning of the game.
The UI for 1st person combat and movement works mostly well. Mount and Blade has spoiled me on how horses should work, and TLIML is nowhere close to that. But TLIML horses are OK. However some of the strategic game UI parts are sometimes hard to understand. The game helps you, but there are still some rough edges. For example, I met a trader, but could not figure out how to trade with him. It may have been he didn't trust me, but there weren't any real clues to that effect.
The beginning game basically revolves around your chief trying to take on some initial settlements through stealth. Usually these are a camp, with a wagon, maybe a tent and 3 to 4 settlers. The game encourages the player to intimidate the settlers and run them off, rather than killing them. But it doesn't stop you from killing them. I like stealth games, and I found this part of the game to be satisfying. I was able to take down a small walled settlement of about 6 settlers, and this allowed me to release some captive warrior to join me. That was pretty good.
The game world is immersive and beautiful. As someone said...almost Skyrim like.
The main thrust of the game, is played out on the strategic map. You build up your camp and war parties to clear the land of settlers. I like the concept, but am only just getting to the point where I have enough warriors to make a difference. You give your warriors orders while you are not around, so they can carry out basic tasks, like gathering wood, and flax to make bows. But somehow this part of the interface is still somewhat murky. I will get it eventually, but I would not call it intuitive.
You can also take your war parties into combat. The interface is somewhat Mount and Blade like here. But I haven't really gotten to that point in the game. The UI to manage your troops also seems a little sparse and fiddly. Going to need some trial an error on my part.
In short, the game has good bones (at least in the early game), but still needs some polish. If you like stealth games, you may enjoy it in its current state. Otherwise, you might want to wait a bit more while it matures, or goes on sale.
oh, almost forgot....voice acting sucks. Sounds like the devs got drunk one night and recorded various grunts and groans.
