The Wall St. Journal did a study of the "Amazon's Choice" badge on the website.
The choice logo is based on a computer algorithm, and is not "meant to be a stamp of approval." Yeah, right.
In addition to regular listings, the WSJ found the "Choice" badge was given to products labeled as dangerous by regulators or that made false claims. The worst category were dietary supplements.
Classes are taught and consultants get big bucks for teaching people how to manipulate the system to get the choice logo - which usually yields a quick and sustained sales bump of 25%.
