Been a really long time since I've uploaded a video. I've been playing a lot of the new version of Aurora and figured I'd record some game play in a conventional start. If you guys find the game boring, you'll probably enjoy watching paint dry more than this video, but if you're curious and want to learn a little about how this complex game plays out, give it a watch.
If you find it useful in the least, let me know and I'll record some more.
Remember to increase the quality of the playback. YouTube has it set to SD 360p automatically, so increase the quality in the settings so you can make out all the text.
I've been meaning to get into the new Aurora, but there's a new update every time I look. I was gonna hold off until it stabilizes a bit.

it is very stable. The last 4 updates have not required a database wipe. I think in the pretty near future Steve will begin focusing on feature additions instead of bug fixes.
I don't mind the DB wipes because it forces me to start over and go over everything again. It helps in learning and becoming more comfortable with the interface and mechanics.
Glad you are feeling better. Hope you continue this series. :bd:
Thanks for doing this! If anything, it makes me want to get serious about learning Kerbal & SotS (even #1) or Distant Worlds... or any number of things, partly to level myself up to being any good at Aurora! :smitten:
Cool. Been looking to get into this at some point. Good to hear you're feeling better. :bd:
Been wondering.. does C# have an option to change the blue backgrounds to black with white text or something similar? Feel like my retinas have the color permanently burned into them after staring at all that dark blue for awhile. :hide:

Thanks Jarhead! First, glad you're doing better now! Keep it up!
Secondly, I would definitely like to see more episodes on this where you not only discuss the 'how' of the game but also go deeper into the 'why' . I think many playthroughs lack the 'why' part (save for Das Tactics stuff perhaps. That guy is thorough ;) ).
Here is part two...covers initial colonization in Sol, freighter and colony ship design.
Let me know if you guys have any questions...

It does now. There is a Steve approved mod that permits the player to adjust color, font and table size...here are two examples.

Going to have to load that up with my restart when 1.10 releases.

You can load it up now. It in no way has any impact on the database or your save files.
Ah, that white on deep blue looks nice!
I was pretty good with Aurora back around version 1.5 of the old, pre-C Aurora. The new, improved "C" version of the game looks GREAT and I am TOTALLY lost and overwhelmed. I love it! :)
Part 3 - We cover Orbital Defense Monitors for population protection (PPV), gravitational surveying and we begin using jump points to explore new solar systems!
Naisu! :notworthy:
I just noticed the sound seems to cut-off at around the 35 minute mark. Can you let me know if you have the same problem?
Thanks.

Yes, sound ended right around 35 minutes and never came back.
Yep, no sound after that point. :'(
(I often listen to it in the background with occasional screen checks.)
I think my mic $hit the bed. Sorry guys...
Part 3.5 - Still have some sound issues, but it's all there and a new mic is on the way!
1.10.0 is out. Time to start a new game! ;D

Yup. I'll probably wait a day or two for the initial patches.
Aurora forums are down, for me anyway.
