I remember that happening. For me the most incredible thing was the film from Seattle of the city covered in darkness in broad daylight and the ash fall. It reminded me of Tolkien's description of Mordor in LOTR. :o
I was in Winnipeg Manitoba when that happened. Two days later there was ash everywhere around where I lived!
