One of the greats is gone.

I'm trying to remember the name of one of his films that I saw a couple of times many years ago and can't find a trace of it anywhere online! Even IMDB had nothing. I came here to post a question in the RIP thread and discovered that apparently nobody made one.

Poitier played an army Lieutenant (lawyer?) sent to a base to investigate the murder of an unpopular senior black NCO. I'm pretty sure that it was filmed in the 60's. Anybody have a clue?

Are you thinking of "A Soldier's Story?"  It was a good movie, but it wasn't Sidney Poitier. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088146/
