Such potential with the concept, but I have my doubts and concerns with the scale, genre and execution here.
Hmmm....quite interesting trailer. Could this be something like Baldur's Gate goes Warhammer 40K?
IIRC, they have an pen and paper RPG- Rogue Trader where the players are characters inside the 40k 'verse.

I remember Fantasy Flight Games at one time having that as well but that might have changed.

And it's gonzo.
Don't really like the art style but I do like the general idea of this.

Same here, it looks like they wanted an "Amazon Prime animated series" feel and had to go with the discount bin animators. The artwork is OK if not my cup of tea, but the animations are very choppy and unpleasing to watch.
I am a writer, not an artist at all, but even I could see the animations are whack.
WHACK!
Still...I like it, on paper.
Wow! -- the original 40K game, finally adapted?!

Somehow...by the grace of God...I've managed to keep my copy of the original Rogue Trader from circa 1986, despite all the moves and changes AND it's in near pristine condition, too! I also have all the original codex and many of the original White Dwarf magazines.

^ Wow, that must be worth a pretty penny - especially if it's a first edition.

It is indeed. Got to drop around $250-$300 for it in that condition. Only core book I'm missing.
Got nothing on my pristine copy of Dune Chronicles of the Imperium though. :nerd:

Wow. i see one on Abe Books going for $601!
The art work on the cover is what gripped my imagination. I haven't looked back since. Hard to believe it has been 35 years... :hide:
Lots of rogue trading happening on that cover! :coolsmiley:

40k was never supposed to be what you see now - it was border struggles and patrols - a couple guys versus their coupla guys - you can see that in the points system and setups in the rogue trader book

Am I a dweeb for thinking this sounds a bit more interesting than "fifty guys fighting over a tiny square patch of land"?
Dweebs unite
Not at all - the main scenario at the back of the book is about 12 crimson fist marines v 20 odd orks fighting for control of a farm area when you had major and minor heroes and a champion and you could pick from any part of the armoury
I'm sure there are still groups out there playing this version but with new models
The closed alpha was released today. I couldn't resist. I had to get a founder's edition to get access. It looks like it is coming along very well. Impressions to follow...
Looking forward to your impressions.
This is a must buy for me so am tempted to dive in during EA now, but I did the same for Baldur's Gate 3 when it entered EA and years later even a beta of the full game is not available yet, so am a bit cautious and curious what is there in Rogue Trader EA at this point.
Rogue Trader released today.
I'm already throwing orphans out of airlocks!
Will definitely pick this up at some point but with my experience of Pathfinder Kingmaker and "War of the Righteous" I will wait a bit until Owlcat patch the inevitable bugs.

Early yet but so far the only bugs I've seen are the ones scurrying about on my Voidship.

Eh, the bastards of heretics are chaos-touched from the jump, so it's really a favor you are doing for them.
I really like it, but it is brutally difficult and it is starting to put me off a little bit. I need to take a little break.
I've only come across one bug so far where a rebel soldier was trying to retreat, but it somehow got clipped on the edge of the map and couldn't get free. Then, i was unable to even target the guy on my next turn and had to reload from the last save.
Not sure I have ever seen a bigger patch, over 1,800 changes. They do warn some spoilers in patch notes so read at your own risk.
