Instead of directing us off-site, how about you kick off some discussion of your impressions here? I know there are guys who will be interested in it. Let us know what you think.

Great terrain graphics, neat smaller scenarios, nice AI. The Jutland scenario is cute but shallow. Having read a book and an article on the first Balkan war, I found that scenario fascinating. Most of the continental scenarios in the West are still slugfests. The possible deployment of troops open up great possibilities.

Good Balkan scenario eh? That sounds great. What are the playable sides in the Balkan scenario?

None in that one. Deployment happens in the larger scenarios/

^So the player in the Balkan scenario can only play as the Allies?

No both sides. My money's on the Turks.

I went back and checked the Ludendorff Offensive. The 2nd US division is there so the Marine Brigade is there under that division.

Thanks, Bismark.  I like what I'm hearing so far.  Am especially interested in the smaller scenarios.

The base SC:WW I has been patched to 1.06 in preparation for this expansion.

The "what-if" potential of Breakthroughs is compelling.  Not attacking Belgium and trying to knock Russia out is the biggest strategic choice the Germans had.  The option of the UK not entering the war initially is a huge alternative history question.

The AAR I did where Germany repositioned their forces for a month and did not attack Belgium is modeled much easier in this if I'm reading Jim's review accurately.

I'm very interested in this.

We've currently got a few AARs on the go, one of which is of the Russian Civil War campaign.

I am commanding the Bolsheviks so you can follow my rise or fall here:

So far, so good, but 1919 will be a tough year for me, especially in the south.

There's also a video highlighting the campaigns in the release:

Arrg...I knew Battlefront was going to pull something sneaky ;) like this just prior to Commander: The Great War getting released in early November.

You can get SC WWI The Great War + Breakthrough! BUNDLE for $55.00 (http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=34&flypage=shop.flypage_bfc&product_id=335&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26)

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

The question is "How far do we trust Slitheribe?" We know SC WW I/BreTHOUGH[/i are fine. Commander Europe at War] was good but Commander Napoleon at War sucked

I'm going to buy this when I get home.  Russian revolution, First Balkin War and the ability to have Germany with a totally different deployment at the start of the war is simply too much to pass up - at least if you have the first game.

I' m really impressed with what Hubert has done with the SC series. It's really improved over the years and is quite a good system now for any 20th century conflict at the strategic level. There are obviously still some flaws but it's pretty good.
