Just released for early access...
Total Conflict Resistance
Looks like Mount and Blade with modern weapons.
I am a sucker for this genre, so despite my usual hesitation for a game this early in its development, I pulled the trigger.
Very ambitious. We will see how it goes.
I got it too. Haven't tried it yet.
DasTactic seemed impressed with the beta version about three months ago.
This game still looks good to me. I promised myself last year to stop buying EA games but this one looks like it has great potential.

Agree.
Interestingly, TCR looks and acts similar to an older game called Freeman Guerrilla Warfare. That game started off well, and actually was doing some very good things, but then seemed to implode (BTW, the devs for that earlier game recently announced a complete revamp...and that is a good thing).
I am looking forward to see where TCR goes.

Completely forgot about Freeman- I was very excited for it a few years ago and kind of lost track. How did it implode?

I can't say whether it "imploded", but I think it was just simply abandoned, more or less.

I used the word "imploded" because it is the only example I have seen, where a game actually went backwards in the early access model. The biggest example was the addition of AFVs. At one point these were introduced into the game, and the feature became more or less stable.
However, at some point, AFVs were suddenly withdrawn from the game, and did not return. There were several other features that met a similar fate. I think the reason was that the devs were doing major surgery and were pulling out not just weeds, but entire root systems.
But yes, the game was more or less abandoned at some point after that.
The Steam page notes last summer that the game was being rebuilt, and that would be great news. But no activity since then...so perhaps abandoned again.
I remember being this excited about Freeman as well when it first went Early Access.
The key difference though that I see with Total Conflict is that based on the videos I've seen about the gameplay is most of the mechanics that really appeal to me seem to be there from the get go. And in good working condition.
If I were to gamble on this game I think it wouldn't be a foolish mistake as the foundation of Total Conflict seems to be solid.
Now I have to do a little research on the developer before pulling the trigger no tun inpended.
I enjoyed Freeman, but it was a perfect example of a gamed dev team that got distracted by shiny things and kept chasing the new new rather than refine what they had.
I think the team got smaller as it progressed as well. By the end the only two devs I ever saw or heard about were the two girls, and they eventually dropped off.
Real shame, it had potential.
I pulled the trigger and bought this last night. Haven't had time to play but I'll chime in once I do get some time in.
I have enough games right now. I am staying strong! :paladin:

I was finding the firefights to be very confusing (as they would be in real life).
Then I found the map key. Zooming the map out as much as possible allowed me to give RTS like orders to each of my squads and build a coherent strategy for the fight.
I still suck at the firefight part. But it is nice to see that the enemy bots aren't uber accurate snipers like they are in many games.
I agree about the firefights being a confused mess. Very real and fairly similar to a firefight in Arma. Managing your squads with the map zoomed out is key.
I'm really loving the economy aspect of the game as well. Trying to figure out what is worth producing vs. just buying what you need on the market.
