Great Northern War sadly not included in this sale so will probably wait until a later one to pick it up.

Having said that I have been falling in love with the Tiller Operational games all over again in the last month or so having re downloaded them to see what WDS has done with them. Phenomenal job. I have been playing a lot of Kharkov 43, Seven Years War and Sicily 43. The UI is now incredibly clear and the maps and units  are a 100% improvement.

I jumped in an hour ago and picked up Serbia 14 and East Prussia 14 having read the designer notes for both games which are masterpieces. A WW1 game of such an accurate design is my dream. A massive rabbit hole has now opened up and I may not be seen for some time

If I buy any, will be Squad Battles....have all the Civil War titles and all the early america titles so time to start building my other collections.  I get overwhelmed with the titles that have huge unit counts so that keeps me away from a lot of the titles, even though the topic is highly interesting.

Have a look at the designer notes for Serbia 14 (you can Google and download the pdf). The way the Austro Hungarian Army is described is hilarious ("an alphabet soup" of unit designations for example) because of the multiple nationalities that comprised their army. Half the officers needed interpreters to speak to their men and the motivation of the Croatian and Bosnian troops was distinctly suspect.

On the other hand the Cavalry was maybe the best in Europe.

I am really looking forward to playing it.

^If you are into that sort of thing, as I am, read The Army of Francis Joseph by Gunther Rothenberg:

Every time they have a sale I go into it determined to try a naval game for the first time, but then end up getting another Civil War or Napoleonic game. Thinking of Guadalcanal.  :undecided:

Cheers for that Sir.

For some reason I have a real affinity with the old Austria Hungarian dual monarchy (they do amazing coffee and cake in Vienna as an added benefit :azn: )

Always will play as the Austrians if I get the chance.

Will try and pick the book up.

You will enjoy it, I know I did.

I am also fascinated by the old Austro-Hungarian empire.

Hard to say if Europe is better or worse off without it.

You should give it a go.  I was a reluctant naval game person as well but once I got the first one I got several more.  Guadacanal is probably my favorite.

Think I might try a modern campaign, any recommendations between Fulda, North Plain, and Danube?  Primarily play single player and prefer smaller engagements, but also want the one that is considered the best:)

I really want to pull the trigger on 1776 and 1812 but haven't heard on the potential for Early American Wars getting the graphics/UI overall that Napoleon/Civil War and Pike and Shot had.

Still might buy them at the discount just to have them for the future.   I can't imagine they'd pass over EAW for the upgrades.

Folks might already be aware of this, but just a reminder that the Modern Campaigns demo, Quang Tri '72 is free. The map is 1400 hexes and includes 14 scenarios.

They all have a sampling of small & medium scenarios, but doing a quick pass through it appears Fulda Gap would be the best title for that criteria. Danube Front seems to be more Medium to Huge... but with Danube Front you get the full map of the entire front, so if you care to expand into the monsters it is there...

It is quite a ways down the programming list... we have an immense amount of work going on, and a limited pool of programmers to pull on...

That doesn't make the decision any easier:)  Now it is down to Fulda or Danube...like the smaller scale of Fulda but I find it intriguing to play the larger maps.
