Wow! This is huge news. The game had tremendous potential as an authentic space/naval sim. It just needed a little "sprucing" up, if you will. Wonder if any modders will run with it? One can hope!
That's cool.
Did you know it was built by a man and wife team? He did all the coding, she did the music. It's quite an accomplishment for a game with that kind of depth and eye candy.
I didn't know his wife was involved in the project. I do remember a lack of ambient sound being one of the immersion breakers of the game. Speech and radio comms would have helped this game along tremendously.
That's a hoot. I just replied to Eddie Steryx's post about selling his games. Starshatter is on my want list. ;D
Great news. Although the fighter part of the sim lacked immersion, the capital ship aspect of the game showed real promise, especially with the Falcon V style dynamic campaign.
IIRC the AI was fairly brutal.
The I chatted with the dev one time and he told me he just kept playing against it to test it. Every time he felt it did something stupid he went back into the code to fix it. At the end he told me most of the time he lost against it. As I remember it, I think I lost against it a lot, too.
This is really good news! One of the Wargamers sent me this a while back- I think it was MC82 but I could be wrong. At any rate, I tried very, very hard to like it but the inability to properly map my HOTAS to the game finally frustrated me enough to give up on it.
Still, I always thought it was a good game that just need a little bit more love to be a great game. There is just amazing potential. I don't know if anyone will care enough to run with it but I certainly hope they do!
No idea about the game, but I'm afraid I can't say the name without cracking up...
