I also know that Bundesmarine ships' crews leaving England take some stones from shore and drop them in the channel "England Stueck fuer Stueck abtragen" (chipping away at the island).
Maybe the Brits can find some of those unexploded bombs the Luftwaffe dropped on London and send them back aboard her.
I appreciate the humor of the German CO, and I'm sure the British also appreciated it. It says something that sworn enemies for the almost half of the 20th century can now engage in this type of friendly banter. My only comment is that it would have been much more effective if the FGS Braunschweig was not being towed stern first down the Thames while they were playing the theme music....
The Londoners never had much to fear from the German Navy in any event!
I'd still be wary. Remember the Germans parked one of their old BB's in Danzig just before they invaded in '39 for a, 'Port Call'. I would send Charles over to give them a stern look or two. That should be enough to keep them honest. :knuppel2:
Do we know the music was coming from the ship?
^Article said it was coming over whatever the German naval equivalent of a PA system is.
