MicroProse, the iconic publisher renowned for its deep portfolio of strategy and simulation titles, is proud to announce the return of one of the most revered naval warfare simulations of all time—Harpoon Classic '97. The game builds on the legacy of the original Harpoon, offering modern players a fresh opportunity to command naval forces across some of the most challenging and dynamic theatres of war in history.

Originally released in the late 1980s, Harpoon set the gold standard for naval warfare simulations, and now, Harpoon Classic '97 carries that torch forward. With meticulously redesigned features, new missions, and improved gameplay mechanics, this version will offer players an experience that is both nostalgic and innovative.

CMO has raised the bar quite high and has a many years long head start. it is not going to be easy for any reboot of Harpoon to compete.

It will be almost impossible for Harpoon to compete.  It doesn't have the graphics of Cold Waters, it doesn't have the accuracy and database of CMO.  Possibly it can be a "CMO-lite" for the more casual players, but I don't see there being much of a market for it.

That seems like an incredible waste of time, money, and resources.  Is MicroProse even paying attention to the current market?

Speaking only for myself, I would play a "lite" version of CMO. Dynamic campaign and scenario generator / editor would top it off. But I wouldn't want to pay much for it.

I'm definitely interested in a Harpoon Classic reboot as long as it brings something to the table that the Matrix Ultimate addition can't, (even if it's just a more authentic 'Just like the first time I tried it! retro vibe') as long as they keep the price under $24.
