There's a serious 4X flood of late :P
I've had my eye on this one for a while as well.
I look forward to it, but I hadn't mentioned it yet since it looks like work on it has barely begun (relatively speaking). From what I can tell, it's not even in an early pre-alpha state yet -- it's more of a discrete collection of mechanics & systems that when cobbled together, might someday approach something resembling a 4x title. Call me in another year or so; then I'll get excited! :D
An update on this one:
While I'm a Kickstarter backer for this project, I've not really talked much about Predestination thus far. This is partially because it seems like the more I discuss an upcoming 4x title, the more likely I am to jinx it in some way. :-[ Moreover, while the game has been developing at a steady pace for quite some time, it's only recently that progress has reached a point where (IMO) it may finally be worth mentioning. The developers have just released their major monthly update (http://predestinationgame.com/2013/06/27/predestination-june-dev-updates/) (for June), which includes a fair bit of info on what's gotten the last several weeks.
In addition, they announced the game now has a Steam Greenlight page (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=153761942), so if it looks interesting to you, go vote it up! Apparently they're going to be on Desura (http://www.desura.com/games/predestination) and IndieDB (http://www.indiedb.com/games/predestination) as well, and are also on GOG's wishlist (http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/predestination).
It's still going to be a while yet before we see Predestination released (earliest date I've seen mentioned is Q4 2013), and I'm not prepared for a 4x revolution in any case, so no need to get excited yet. However, the devs do have some interesting ideas & mechanics that I've not seen in a space strategy game before, and I'm curious to see how (well) they work together.
Just gave it a thumbs up on my Steam account. Looks like a game with a lot of potential. Here's hoping.
Wow, so many space 4x games. I was just reading about Worlds Collide (http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2013/06/stellar-indie-venture-worlds-collide/) on Space Sector. Who knows what else is coming. Don't get me wrong, I do love a good space 4x game but I have to ask, why is no one doing a turn based 4x game that is like Civilization? All I see are fantasy or space based 4x games.
p.s. I'm on my second Manhattan. I could be rambling. ::)
[edit] Just saw the feline race. There also better be a rodent race! Don't we like rodent races around here? ;D
