Slowly grinding away on my project to create some terrain and a 55 man IJA platoon for a Burma campaign for Chain of Command.
Finding a proper colour for the uniforms gas been a challenge. I've narrowed it down to one of these two.
These aren't fully painted yet, just testing the colour scheme. Which looks better, the grey-green khaki or the mustard khaki?

They both look good. I feel like the grey-green khaki (right/bottom) looks a bit more realistic (not more historically accurate necessarily, but more like real-life clothes), but I like the mustard one better (left/top) because it has a bit more pop and depth/texture to the way the uniform colors meshed with the base paint. It almost has a bit of a graphic novel-ish feel to it, which I prefer over drab realism when it comes to minis. Just my $.02 though!
Also, the boots on the gray-green khaki one look excellent. I don't know if it's just a different texture, but I kind of like those boots better than the top one (which I'm assuming is a Bolt Action figure, given its kinda more cartoony features?)
Thanks. I think I prefer the grey-green but it will look too similar to the Chindit colours.
Yeah, the warlord models leave a bit to be desired. The heads from the sprues are based on Mickey Rourke from Breakfast at Tiffany's
If I had to pick one and only one I like the bottom figures color scheme. The brown color is nice too but I feel most wargames featuring Japanese WW2 soldiers brown is used the most.
Another vote for grey-green.
Can't wait to see the finished platoon!
It's gonna be a while. I think I've only built about 20 or so figures so far, let alone started to paint any of them.
