FYI, you guys probably already know this but just in case, it looks like the grogheads.com SSL cert expired today:
Validity:
Not Before: Thu, 09 Jan 2025 17:31:34 GMT
Not After: Wed, 09 Apr 2025 17:31:34 GMT
Just passing on the info in case users complain about browser errors, Firefox actually reported this as a potential issue with my time/date until I looked closely.
As always thanks for all you do to host this great site for us.
Thank you. We're fixing it now.
Standby.
Still getting this today just fyi! Can't keep me out!! :)
I know. Godaddy is terrible. I literally despise having to deal with them.
Its a simple issue to fix, but they are incompetent, so...
In any event, we're still working on it.
Apologies.
I know how it goes, believe me!! Just wanted to make sure you were aware.
I'm getting warnings when coming to your site.
Connection is not private...I then have to select advanced where it says your security certificate has expired
Thanks. We know.
Oops
Still getting it. Glad it's not just me :)
Some sites are also now requiring connecting traffic to do mathematical problems before being allowed to connect because of all the A.I. crawlers chewing their bandwidth. AI bots apparently don't have the bandwidth for that.
This should be fixed. Can you guys please confirm.
Fixed.
Awesome. I kept getting safe site warnings and thought you got hacked. Thankfully it was just a certificate renewal thing.
Fixed
All good here as well, both with W11/Edge and MacOS/Safari. Thanks guys!
Confirmed on Firefox.
I was about to organize a march on GoDaddy...

It would have been a total waste of your time. You'd be on hold for hours and get nowhere.
GoDaddy customer support is the most amazingly hit or miss thing on the planet. Sometimes you call and you get someone who just doesn't want to do anything to help you. Sometimes you get someone who wants to help, but is entirely incompetent. Sometimes you get someone who just wants to sell you some upgraded service in order to solve the problem. But just once in a blue moon, you get someone who not only wants to help, but who has some technical knowledge and isn't afraid to use it.
More often than not though, they fix one thing only to break something else and then they still try to sell you something you really don't need. It seems to be their business model.
They have also outsourced much of their phone customer support overseas, so sometimes I get an American and sometimes I get someone in Pakistan. I haven't figured out the distribution of their calls or how that works.
In any event, GoDaddy is the only business I think in my entire lifetime where I actually left a negative review on BBB. On Thanksgiving we had a website crash and I called in for support and the rep was so downright rude and nasty. He refused to help, was flippant, wouldn't answer any questions and then actually hung up on me! I then emailed him directly because they send you these ridiculous satisfaction surveys so I had his email address and the guy actually argued with me back and forth by email. I was absolutely shocked by the treatment I received from this individual and the idiot was so brazen, he actually left a written paper trail. I'm starting to get angry about it again, just retelling the sordid tale.
But I digress...for now, the site is working as it should again. :peace:
That is so frustrating to hear JH. And to even carry on an argument over the email? Wicked rude, as we say here in New England.
Expired again? Getting this:
Suspicious page blocked for your protection
https://www.grogheads.com/forums/
Your connection to this web page is not safe due to an expired security certificate.
Web pages must renew their certificates to stay current, and outdated security certificates represent a risk for your data.
Just got warnings for two different expired certificates. Says they expired in November.
I got the same.
Ditto.
I got this too. I'm not sure why this is happened. I recently renewed this. I probably need to update something.
Nobody panic. I'll figure it out.
I have the same thing.
I think its fixed.
It looked to me like maybe something was mis-spelled? Anyway, it's working now, thanks JH!
It's an early Christmas miracle. I got a tech at Go Daddy who knew what he was talking about and actually wanted to help. The SSL Certificate was missing a txt file that verifies ownership of the site. I have no idea why or what for all of a sudden, but I'm not going to stare a gift horse in the mouth.
For now, no more scary warnings. :ninjameditate:
Worked for me thanks. :)
I increasingly am having trouble getting directly to the forums now unless I got to grogheads.com first.
I don't mind. I just thought I would give the feedback in case their are still some issues
rearing their heads in other areas and my feedback helped.
What kind of trouble?
Works fine here, with cert marked clean by Chrome.
Unless I go directly to grogheads.com first and then to the forums via the main site link. The direct link to the forum that I used last just never loads. I get the loading indication but it's an endless loading circle. The browser just never actually gets around to taking me to the forum.

I go directly to the forums with https://www.grogheads.com/forums/index.php (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/index.php). Haven't had any recent issues with that on firefox.

Try clearing your cache maybe?
Thanks guys. Will try the cache. Seems to be working for me though here (i am at a different location and device that was not working yesterday directly) where it was not yesterday. Maybe it was a down under thing.
Seems to be working now. Nothing special was required.
