Title: Love me some Tomcat
Post by: JudgeDredd on May 09, 2025, 10:25:09 AM
Started work on this last year. My daughter got it for me for Father's Day.

I do plan to finish it for Fathers Day...I'll post an update when it's done

Thanks. I see a bit of paint came off when removing the tape when I was painting the black - so it needs a wee touch up there.

I'm guessing VF-84 Jolly Rogers based on that black paint, but you never know!

Well....I've not stuck strictly to the paint scheme so that probably led you down the Jolly Rogers path.

I've painted this white instead of the gray. I just preferred the white

The scheme provided is for VF-101 Grim Reapers

Decals were an absolute nightmare. I had to junk most of them. That's the problem with 1/72 jets - they have so many tiny decals - and my big sausage fingers are not delicate enough.

I also don't have the right kit (no way to hold the decal with one hand whilst sliding the decal on with the other because I have to hold the model). I'll remedy that.

Anyway - I've finished it now. Done and dusted. It's a bit rough in places - but after messing around with the decals for so long and ruining half of them I was literally on the verge of batterunbg it and taking a picture suggesting it was one of those in Iran recently.

Started off with a good old smattering of wash...

And then wiped it off (missed a few bits that I'll tidy up)

That's awesome, JD!

What do you do with them once finished? Do you have a display?

Thank you.

I used to have a set of shelves...but I "lost my space" so I sold them on eBay.

I just have my NCC-1701 ToS starship and this now
