As of today CMBO, CMBB, CMAK are available on Steam, but not in Germany.
They added new screen resolution support, both widescreen and generally higher resolutions such as 4k.

Who is "SNEG"? I thought Battlefront was working with Matrix/Slitherine for their Steam sales. I have these on the original CDs of course, and also bought them on GoG when they released there. I'll probably end up buying them again on Steam lol.

SNEG is some random shop re-releasing old games.
BFC has actually been bought by Matrix, but Matrix has no interest in legacy games.
I think SNEG is getting this through buying rights to Strategy First titles, who had the rights to sell CMx1 engine games under slightly different titles from at Battlefront.
Matrix does have some interest in legacy games -- they still sell some John Tiller games, the best example being the East Front/West Front/EF2 collection (being slowly remade and expanded for modern engines and capabilities by our grand forum members Crossroads and Jason Petho!) -- but not these for somewhat unclear reasons, possibly due to legal right technicalities.
Yeah, they're one of these houses that seems to vacuum up these old classics and put them on Steam. They honestly have an amazing selection:

A lot of those are on GoG already though. On the other hand, I don't think GoG's version of CM:BB and CM:AK don't have the extras available through Steam.

Correct. The GoG games don't have the new screen resolution code.

Very interesting.
Wonder if the new resolutions help with some of the "sparkle" effects I had with the GoG versions. CMAK in particular.
Normally the graphics of older games (even ones I loved) turn me off buying them - but some manage to pull it off. Mafia, B-17 to name two.
I am definitely interested in these. I have very fond memories of them. I love the remakes - but graphically, there are so many glitches nowadays, I don't often play them.
The graphics are not too bad at all. They hold up very compared to similar games from their era.
The gameplay is surprisingly good. In many ways better than the latest Combat Mission titles.
I am impressed with all three: CMBO, CMBB and CMAK.
The looks get a lot better when you install some of the high-end mods.
I still have a fully modded CMBO, need to move those textures over to Steam.
Some SNEG versions are also available on GOG, like D&D Dragonshard, only through GOG Galaxy, some kind of legal mumbo jumbo. Maybe CMx1 titles will get the same treatment?
Super thanks for the heads-up, Redwolf. Playing CMx1 in widescreen is great. I had the GOG versions with their 4:3 resolutions and that was good. But the addition of widescreen is excellent.
I have a bunch of mods for CMBO and CMBB from like over 20 years and they worked in the GOG versions and I moved them over to the Steam versions and no issues.
Wonderbar!

I would love for the SNEG CMx1 titles to be available on GoG, but I'm not sure about Dragonshard being only through Galaxy... I have that title on GoG, and the SNEG version is available through my account on the web via 'View Downloads...Extras, under Alternate versions', no Galaxy needed.

I downloaded CMBO and CMBB mods 20 years ago so I have no idea what is what. I don't have many for CMAK as I never bought it from Battlefront when it came out, but only bought it when GOG released it.
I guess I could zip up the BMP and Wav folders for CMBO and CMBB and upload them to a free file hosting website for anyone to download, but since others created the mods, is it ethical for me to upload the mods without any credit to the creators? Seriously.

...and another thank you
The Internet will break down under our load from downloading each others' mods.
I also have many mods and scenarios for CMx1, especially CMBO. I wonder how much overlap there is with what is in that thread already.
I would really like SMEG to set up Steam workshopping for these games, but I'm damn well not holding my breath for that...
They do seem to include some various mods from the community already tho.
Ended up buying them. Again. Must be at least my 12th copy of CMBO since I first got that one in the mail on CD back in the day. I bought multiple copies over the years to give to friends. Off to visit Reisberg and Chance Encounter again.
Will they run on a 4k monitor ? Might be worth it just for that alone.

Yes, I run in 4k.
I'm currently in a 2000-pt PBEM CMBO Quick Battle with an old CM buddy, and it is glorious!!! Just like the old days (but in 1920x1080 resolution!!)
I wonder what it would be like to play CMBO in the old ladder style:
- randomly generated map with two possible rejections per player
- TCP/IP with VCR controls
- Fionn 75 or Fionn 76 armor selection rules
Just a heads-up for anyone who has these and doesn't read Release Notes (like me)... Made a discovery last night that is a life-changer!
You can configure the game now to use the WASD keys to control the camera, with Q and E to rotate!! It works in all three games and to me makes them almost like new again. It is sooooo much nicer being able to sweep around the battlefield using more modern camera controls similar to most games.
To enable/configure it, hit F2 after you launch the game and it brings up a new menu that allows you to adjust the speed/etc. After you enable the WASD keys, you will have to restart the game because those keys conflict with some other hotkeys like Sneak/etc.
Anyway, just wanted to pass this along! Makes the game so much smoother to me!
