Some of you guys have been recommending some demos in various threads.
Figured it would be good to have central location...adding to the ones I've already seen mentioned:

Pretty much this
Tabletop tavern is new on my list - it looks brilliant
Curious about battle plan
Never played twilight but everything I've read is good - looking at this too
I might as well take advantage of this thread to voice my wishlist.
These are some of my most anticipated games and they've been either "no release date yet" or vaguely mention "sometime in 2026"
Some of them have been in the TBD release date state for well over 2 years now. I hope they're worth the wait.

Do you mean, "Warhounds"?

Apparently the Battleplan Demo is one of the Demos that is out. Any snow-bound grogs interested in trying it and giving a review? It's a better option than shoveling the snow....

Buhhh I did - there's a lot of controversy on the steam forums about it but it still looks good
Also combat pilot has it's demo out on steam. I don't think it has much combat, possibly just carrier quals in a wildcat and zero. I'll probably give it a try just to see how then new engine feels so far compared to all the other names in the genre.
Demo's I am playing in next fest. Ashes 2 was extremely disappointing. Basic and minimalist in extermis = boring. Paint the map without anything really to do. Reminded me of real time panzer corp without the variety, graphics, animations or unit count. You know that large unit small hex map style where terrain changes are violent and immediate?
Sherman Commander's new demo is better but still kinda derpy and once I figure out how to zoom it might be easier to see things.
Sudden Strike 5 seems pretty nice and the men do not look like dwarves in this one.
Combat Pilot I might give a run and just finished downloading it. EDIT: Combat Pilot seems very solid but is still obviously very early days. colour me impressied. Kinda feeks like microsoft combat flight simulator 3. That very sharp responsive feeling if you remember?
Kriegspiel is defo not AAA, but seems fairly well done

Check out this top-down turned based Demo called: "Burned Horizons". Independent team of Veterans & Gamers from the UK, US and Ukraine:

There's quite a riff with the sudden strike devs. They shut off the MP for SS4 so you can no longer Coop, kind of the the whole point of this rts. Kind of like they are forcing you to buy the new game if you want mp. With games like gates of hell out there, why would I even bother with SS5 in 2026 ?
Also, the combat pilot demo was really good. I know it's just takeoffs and landings on a carrier, but the sim engine it's built on feels great. Already has VR too if your a VR guy.

Instant wishlist from me.
This one screams authenticity.
Naval Tactics - not a bad little demo. A little like playing rule the waves for carrier battle groups.

Been playing more of ashes 2 and I have to say. Now that I have found the supply buildings and got to 3.6k supply instead of the starting 90 supply. I am finding the game much more fun. I fell to the quick look trope. Did not take the time to read stuff!
Des, what would you recommend between Ashes 2 and Singularity Ultimate Edition (which have about the same price point)?

I'm afraid not Jason. Ashes1 is fairly shallow campaign and single player wise. Even though I did enjoy the game and the campaign. It was more of a tech demo.
Ashes2. Well it's too early to tell yet. I don't mind it, but it's nothing special from what I have seen so far.
The campaign might be fun though.
If you want to play something "supreme commander" like, which ashes kind of is. I'd recommend a game called beyond all reason. It's free and aims to recreate total annihalation with a modern feel and interface. It might come to steam eventually, but for now it's just an internet download.
