Title: FRIDAY War
Post by: Tripoli on October 02, 2026, 11:20:15 AM
One of the better protest songs of the 60's-70's.  While I philosophically disagree with the song's universal condemnation of all war, I admire Edwin Starr's version, especially his vocals

As far as gaming: TFA.  Maybe a bit of Combat Mission.  And I have to check out some of the improvements that were made in Scourge of War, as well as its newly released DLC "Brandy Station" https://store.steampowered.com/app/3750230/Scourge_of_War__Brandy_Station/?curator_clanid=45140454

Great song and great voice.

This weekend I will continue to melt my PC playing The Witcher 3 Remastered.
Even a real powerhouse struggles getting more than 60 FPS.

Enjoy this weekend !

Aurora 4x - building the army and sorting the hierarchy for the planetary invasion - I have destroyed the surface to orbit weapons and do an occasional drive by to shut down any rebuild attempts

Many terraformers and fuel harvesters were lost when a pirate raiding party attacked a colony I was patrolling but the pirates jumped in much closer to their prey than I was - rebuilding is afoot

I did in a moment of game whoreyness buy transport fever 3 and played for 90 mins and had a thoroughly good time but on shutting the game down I have 4 or 5 totally unplayed games all worthy of my full attention so refunded the game and tried not to be a spoilt child!

There may be some Civ 7

Continuing to play Heroes & Generals with a vengeance.

I'm going to try to squeeze in some time with Ultimate General: American Revolution and maybe some Civilization III: Conquests using the "World 2004" scenario.

A long weekend here. So Age of Empires IV. I keep playing the Japanese Sengoku side and love it.
Star Citizen. SQ42 spoilers are a major danger now. Youtubers are getting access to 5hrs of campaign gameplay. This kinda annoys me. The freakin marketing team will do their darndest to ruin the first time experience for us all I am sure. You will own nothing and you will like it.

Sales are on steam so have been eyeing off Bannerlord 2 for multiplayer. There are so many medieval games around and I keep holding off hoping for something better and more historical. I don't think it is coming.

Scourge of War Waterloo and it's new graphical update will make me look at it. Been trying to get a mate to play it with me. I believe Gettysburg Remastered gets this update as well.

Been looking at Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg as well. But even at 50% off it still has a hefty price tag. Especially when there is a new engine in the works for combat mission as I understand it.

Also ended up playing some Strategos. A new update with artillery for them and so many armies I have not seen before.

I didn't realize how big the strategic maps are in Strategos.  Looks like you're enjoying that game.

I have not played the game for many months. So taking a look at it last night was like being a kid in a candy store. Two new maps and a tonne of new sides. I had one battle and headed off to bed though. That battle was very satisfying. Strategos battles always are. I have not seen atillery or chariots in action yet, but I did see Elephants in action and they were well done.
The campaigns are simplistic, based on "campaigning seasons", so everybody goes home for winter. You must achieve whatever your objectives are before then. Of course you still hold onto whatever you capture until next season, but next season your enemy may have recovered his strength.
