Title: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Post by: Bison on September 13, 2012, 12:50:56 PM
I see that this is on sale over on Steam this weekend.  I know it got good critic reviews, but anyone here play it extensively and have some feedback.   I'm kinda in the mood for a special ops/spy/sleuthing sort of game at the moment.

I have not played it. But I have yet to hear any negative comments on it.

It's a good mix of Stealth & Action RPG.  Fun game.

Absolutely worth $7.

An hour in and its not too shabby.  Great story line so far.  Although the controls were diffinately designed for a console controller.

I also picked this up at the Steam sale over the summer for 9.00...haven't started it yet though, of course. For those who have, how many hours total gameplay can you get out of it?

It's a great game! I know, my son, Elias Toufexis,  does the voice of the lead character, Adam Jensen. I don't usually go for shooters, but this one has such a cool story line. And, of course, my son does great voice acting

If I ever figure out how to throw a stun grenade, I might make a better spook.

"Two in the head and you know they're dead."

I didn't always take the most stealthy approach.     ;)

I mean I literally don't know how to throw the freaking things.  According to the all knowing intrawebs, I need to push "g".  Going to test this theory out now.

Yeah, pretty sure 'G' is the hotkey for tossing grenades.

Just go into the options screen and look through the list of keybinds to find out what they are.   I gotta do this with most games these days as the quick intros don't tell you all the hotkeys (and no physical manual with them listed).

"g" was the key.  I threw the grenade stunned the group and then got mowed down by one hiding in the corner.  Need to more recon next time.

I just picked this up for silly money last night.  Played about an hour and I'm loving it.  The story is good Bison, I agree with you, I was getting quite immersed.  Jensen is a cool character, I'm enjoying playing that role.  So far it's really living up to the original game, and I can already see where I could have approached the same situation in different ways.  It's nice to break in somewhere then spot a vent and realise there was a completely different way of going about it.

The graphics are excellent and, incredibly, it runs as smooth as poo on my crap PC.  The programmers must be truly gifted to have achieved that; Metro 2033, for example, only barely runs for me with all the settings turned down to minimum.

Where did you pick it up Huw?

It was one of the flash sales on Steam yesterday.  It's up to £9 now but that's still a steal for a game this good.

Thanks! Now I just have to coax my wallet out of it's hiding place. It gets very stressed out this time of year...  :D

Heh.  What I did was I put some money into my Steam Wallet, then vowed to only buy games from that during the sale.  It makes it slightly easier to exercise some discipline!
